Rainy, but warm

This is one of the fragrances that I've been most excited to get to as I work my way through the Replica discovery kit, and it gave me everything that I wanted from it.

When The Rain Stops is a lovely, warm petrichor scent. I don't get much bergamot or pink pepper, but the aquatic and green notes sing from the first spray, and last about an hour. Over the first two hours of wear the aquatic notes take a back seat, and the greens shine as base notes of patchouli and moss come out to play. This combination sticks around for about another two hours - after that, I find it difficult to detect much of anything, but as an EDT I don't find that unreasonable.

It's a lovely, rainy scent that also manages to capture the feeling of standing in a field with the sun shining down on you. 'When The Rain Stops' is the perfect name for this fragrance, and I can see myself reaching for it frequently as we come out of Winter and into Spring.

Nice aquatic scent but short longevity

The scent is really nice, the main notes I get are the patchouli and aquatic notes, I don't really get the pink pepper or bergamot, but maybe that's just how it was on my skin. Although I do like the scent, I find it very soothing and inoffensive, the longevity and sillage I would say are below average, and the price is quite high when you consider these two factors.

More marine-like than rain

The undisputed champion of a world-after-it-has-rained-outside fragrance will forever be Steamed Rainbow. Even though this one references rain, it has more to do with a typical marine, blue aquatic masculine fragrance. It's not bad, although I will say there are better blue fragrances out there that are less synthetic.

The start is spicy and marine-like (which is something that remains pretty much during the duration of this fragrance). Barely got any green notes although many people seem to catch it. I wonder if the salty-like accord I'm getting is from the blend of spicy, synthetic, green and aquatic notes. It smells pretty generic and designer-like blue fragrance. Leans quite masculine as the spiciness and that marine touch seems to be enhanced on my skin. Drydown has some spicy patchouli and some freshness from the pine needles. Still be getting some saltiness (and I don't get from what or why).

All in all, it's fine, but I'd smell this as a room spray or a candle. Not something I'd wear on my skin. Like i've previously mentioned, there are better blue fragrances out there and cheaper than what Maison Margiela sails.

Tea, wet flowers

This scent changes with each sniff. Sometimes it smells like a Cameroonian tea I once had with some sort of almost honey like sweetener. Sometimes it smells like wet flowers with a subtle sweetness. Other times it smells like a masculine cologne version of beach walk with a heavy water like smell. I find myself in a weird hate love relationship with this fragrance. The name of it is perfect because to me it smells the best on rainy gloomy days.

Nice Aquatic but Poor Longevity

I like the smell - a fresh slightly earthy aquatic- but the longevity and sillage are both poor. For perfume I would expect to be able to smell it on myself but I couldn't even after spritzing on all my pulse points. The Rain body mist from Bath and Body Works is a good cheap alternative that has a similar scent profile. Together they do create the closest petrichor scent I've found. Although the smell is great if you love earthy aquatics, it's not strong enough to justify the price for me.
