Resinous-sweet, quite voluminous aroma wood with a somewhat unpleasant turpentine opening
Turpentine. Unfortunately, that's the beginning. The first minutes are marked by a somewhat piercing, biting ethereal tone that I can only associate with this solvent.

About 5 minutes later, it calms down and the impression becomes more pleasant, transitioning into a resinous, extremely woody style, slightly sweet. The reference to Nasomatto's "Black Afghano," which is almost a namesake, is quite understandable, although this one comes across as a bit more brittle, drier, and woodier; fundamentally, however, it does show a resemblance in the sweet-resinous style.

Caramel seems to provide the sweetness; essentially, "El Nabil" resembles a fine wood board lightly rubbed with turpentine, over which someone has scattered caramel pieces and then gently heated it. Perhaps that's how this scent comes about.

What bothers me a bit is the same thing that generally bothers me about Nasomatto: the somewhat sticky, pressing, overly voluminous weight of the dense, sweet resins and woods, which already comes on quite strong and lacks a lot of subtlety and complexity.

Arrived
As a child, he had believed it was warm in Afghanistan. And now he stood here shivering, back here, on a slope of the southern Hindu Kush, looking down at the coniferous forests of Nuristan province.

A few years ago, against all odds, he had initially traveled alone out of scientific interest in language and way of life. But he was immediately captivated by the stark seriousness of the landscape. Along with the simple, sincere hospitality of the Nuristani. There were only a few tens of thousands of them; they had preserved much of their nature-connected culture in isolation, which dated back to a time long before the Islamization at the end of the nineteenth century. And since his first visit, he had returned to them as often as possible.

As usual, only his closest colleagues at the university knew his destination. He had no family left, and no one else would have understood, as it was well known that anyone who ventured into this area was considered a terrorist. His skin color would have added to that. He smiled grimly at the thought that, in light of the collective distrust, he was using the very convoluted paths for entry that would stamp him as a criminal. People who demonized everything from Mauritania to Pakistan as Arab-Islamist would never want to understand the lives of the people in Afghanistan. Most here were just trying - like everywhere else in the world - to get by somehow. Only they had it infinitely harder than in the well-stuffed West, where people complained if the power went out for half an hour.

He took a deep breath of the cedar scent he loved so much. The fragrance was weaker at this time of year than in summer, yet still distinctly noticeable to those who knew it. The aroma mingled with the icy air, in which the very first snowflakes of the year danced and swirled. In the valleys, it had still been quite mild, and he felt a distant echo of the warm-spicy scents from the markets where he had stocked up on supplies. But now, several deep breaths filled his nose and lungs with the unimaginable woody freshness that had indelibly inscribed itself in his soul.

Quickly, yet carefully, his steps carried him forward along the worn path. The long hike was nearing its end - behind a low mountain ridge, he could already see the smoke rising. He had not announced his arrival. How could he? They would still be happy to see him. No silly cheering, no annoying backslapping. They would simply smile, and it would be the most honest smile in the world. They would share their modest meal with him and prepare a bed for him with a few gestures.

She would be there too. Hopefully. He was surprised at how intensely he felt the anxious pang in his stomach as soon as he thought that she might no longer be wearing the attire of the unmarried. Normally, women of her age were already married and had children. As if she were waiting for him, he thought - or was he hoping for that? He had always fought off such thoughts resolutely during his last two visits. They were idiotic. Or? Well, at least the Nuristani, unlike many of the other ethnicities in Afghanistan, usually did not marry within the immediate family. What was keeping him in Germany, aside from habit and convenience? He knew from his previous travels that he could lead a simple life.

He was still floating between thinking and dreaming when he suddenly reached the fire around which everyone was gathering as evening approached. He startled; involuntarily, his eyes darted around until they found the sought-after other pair. Green in color, as was often the case with their people, although no other could shimmer quite as emerald. For a brief moment, he paused, resting his gaze in hers before turning away again. For now. He had arrived.

Wonder Drug from the Dream Magic Tree
As a confessed Opium addict, I thought it was time to try some other scents. The lovely Angelliese has already done a great job of enticing me with her comment about the “Black Afghan” and - as any good dealer would - generously provided a sample as well.

There’s not much to add to Angelliese's sensual description of her head cinema. I can confirm that this fragrance has a fantastic effect. Yesterday, I wore it to work and found it very stimulating and invigorating.

I perceived it from morning till evening; the longevity is enormous. The scent progression is linear and consistent without top and heart notes, which doesn’t bother me at all. The most intense notes I detect are oriental woods (cedar?), as well as warm, soft, and balsamic resin notes. While this may sound simply structured, it still results in an extraordinarily effective, lovely, non-sweet, oriental-spicy fragrance. No component is annoying or develops any disturbing dominance throughout the day.

In my opinion, the fragrance can be worn very well by both genders. With a moderate application (3 sprays were enough for me), it does not develop a “punchy” dominance that would irritate those around you. In any case, I have not experienced any reactions from my colleagues, who are already “battle-tested” with me. The delicate scent veil that continuously flowed from my clothing and wrist provided lasting well-being and increased performance.

I can only attest to the excellent quality of this scent, whose only - but not unwelcome - side effect is its high addictive potential. I believe that “Black Afghan” can be enjoyed at any time of day and year - depending on the consumer's needs.

Thank you, dear Angelliese, for this wonderful fragrance experience!
