Mon Vetiver by Essential Parfums

An after-hours refresher with a great fizzy lime start – not quite the gin promised, but with sparkle and zest. A bit of lavender and a foamy minty aspect following behind do nothing to detract from the ‘summer evening downing a couple by the tennis courts’ vibe. My main quibble with it is the vetiver, so clean and light (apart from a bit of smoky-peppery gruffness when smelled up close) that it seems like an afterthought. So, mon vetiver it is not, as I prefer mine to be earthy, humid bruisers. Forget about the vetiver; this is a fine functional cologne with a big, bleached-teeth smile on its face.

Discovery Set Journey 3/11: Mash the limes!

Foreword: I bought the Discovery set from Essential Parfums and I would like to document my journey here. The brand was already known to me for its good fragrances with well-known perfumers and an attractive price/performance ratio, so I wanted to see for myself.

And now to the fragrance. Vetiver is in the title, but only plays about 50% of a role in the fragrance itself. I rather notice the lime, which is used really well. Overall, the fragrance reminds me of a wood crusher that has just crushed limes for a caipirinha evening. Good lime, soft wood. Gin and tonic in the form of juniper was also on offer at the cocktail evening and gently rounds off the fragrance. I've read here before that there are similarities to generic designer fragrances from the drugstore. With a lot of distance to the wearer, I can understand this idea, but I would always prefer this fragrance, because on closer inspection it is far more complex.

I think this mix is actually quite good and the fragrance leaves a good impression on me. It doesn't reinvent the world, but if you're looking for a daily fragrance that doesn't offend, this fragrance could be something for you.

Too weak

Quite a nice, perfectly balanced, vetiver unisex. Its stimulating, fresh character is the perfect companion for summer days for everyone, regardless of gender. Despite the prominent masculine vetiver, Mon Vetiver is nicely balanced.
The vetiver here is very light, green, grassy, only at times more earthy. At the beginning it is accompanied by extremely fresh and refreshing lime, which is replaced by gin over time, thanks to which Mon Vetiver becomes much sweeter after the initial tart accord. You can also clearly smell juniper and earthy patchouli. Men may not like this scent, but women may like this sweeter vetiver.
Unfortunately, a good composition is not everything. My experience with the Essential Parfums brand is not particularly happy in terms of parameters.
The disastrous parameters of Mon Vetiver spoil the overall impression of this perfume in my opinion. Longevity of 2-3 hours and unnoticeable projection mean that I would not recommend them

Mojito-like Vetiver

Lime, airy vetiver and an illusion of mint. A very nice clean vetiver scent up top with lime, reminds me a lot of Guerlain's Guerlain Homme Eau de Parfum , it then dries and gets the typical earthy vetiver scent with a clean feel from the cashmere.
Would be great as a work signature in the warmer months if vetiver is ur jam. Definitely check this out if you can, this deserves the hype that bois imperial has.

Great fresh-meets-dark vetiver

Essential Parfums Mon Vetiver is a balanced fresh-meets-dark blend in which vetiver mixes with a gin/lime/juniper cocktail and patchouli. It matches a dark, earthy, ashy vetiver note accord against a bright, green, citrus ensemble that makes for a vetiver scent that’s neither remarkably fresh nor dark, a great crossroads between fresh vetiver scents (i.e. Vetiver Original, Trefle Pur) and darker vetiver scents (i.e. Encre Noire), quite impressive at that intersection, with very good performance.

Like the rest of the line, Mon Vetiver is EDP concentration and priced at $96 for 100ml, very reasonable in the current market, sold in the US by boutiques Ministry of Scent, from which I bought my discovery set. I’m not generally a huge fan of vetiver scents but this one is frankly very easy appreciate and versatile in that it’s neither strictly fresh nor earthy/ashy, somewhere in between. Very nice stuff.
