Perfect Summer Citrus

My most recent blind buy, since I wanted a summer citrus without spending a lot ($75 for 100ml).

Overall I am very impressed. After the initial blast of bergamot, the jasmine and ylang ylang surface, supported by cedar and possibly white musk. At times I thought it could have been more feminine than unisex, but this morning my shirt had a nice, freshly laundered clean scent (maybe similar to MFK’s aqua series). I look forward to wearing this more, especially in the summer heat.

Overall longevity is pretty good (for a citrus). 3 hours with moderate projection, then a skin scent for another 2-3 hours.

Nice Bergamot - Brazilian Limonada

More than nice, Nice (pronounced nees) Bergamot was a surprising highlight from the Essential Parfums collection. I don't usually gravitate to citrus. It often feels "thin" or "stringy", so I kept putting it off until it was the last sample I tried from the brand's discovery set. But I was humbled!

Paired with the creamy white jasmine, the overall profile is beautiful and full-bodied, perfect for sunny days and a leisurely weekend. It's almost like a Brazilian limonada, a drink made with limes and condensed milk. The milk softens the sharpness of the limes, adding creamy texture and a sweetness. The jasmine does the same thing. (It brings to mind Acqua di Parma's Yuzu, which softens a yuzu note with creamy mimosa and watery florals.)

I also love that it's squarely unisex. I wish guys would be more open to trying things outside designer brands like Versace Eros and YSL. This would be the perfect fit for someone looking for a seasonal, daytime fragrance.

One of the house's best (imo)

The opening alone wins me over, not to say this is anything mind-blowing (like anything else from this house) but it sure is very pleasant and a happy scent.
Juicy bergamot opening, and then settles into clean citrus floral scent with that bergamot and jasmine combo, very nice, would make a perfect spring/summer scent if it had just a little bit more bergamot.
That being said I get in a better mood every time I spray a little on myself so, hats off Antoine!

A journey from "eh" to a signature summer scent

I got a miniature of this fragrance for free as a part of "buy a full perfume -- get a gift" day in my local fragrance shop. Bergamots and limes are my favorite citruses, so I figured, why not -- and took it with me.

The first test gave me a "meh" impression. True to its name, it's a nice bergamote scent, rounded by jasmine and cedar, so it's not too sour, with medium longevity and sillage that's not too overpowering. I decided that it will go in my collection of fragrances for daily wear -- the ones that are more utilitarian and don't evoke any emotions or gather many compliments.

However, as the summer grew hotter here in Ukraine, I noticed that my hand draws Nice Bergamote out of the pile of miniatures more and more frequently. It felt like drinking a cup of refreshing jasmine and lemon tea during the heat, and the fragrance made living through it much more bearable. I also got a few compliments wearing it, a thing that's never happened before.

Fast-forward to today, and here I am, holding a full bottle of Nice Bergamote and claiming it as my signature scent for hot summers and times when the mood is down, to lift it back up.

A solid floral perfume

Nice Bergamote from Essential Perfumes is certainly not bad, but it has it's flaws. The name suggests a strong note of bergamote, which i was missing, don't get me wrong it is present, but not in the foreground. The first accord which comes up immediately is some kind of floral note, which is very pleasent and not pungent at all, it feels light and is therefore pretty good for spring and summer times. I really like this fragrance, but I wouldn't buy it myself, because I would argue, that it is more of a feminine fragrance than as it was suggested a unisex fragrance. The longevity is actually not to bad, especially for a 80€ perfume (100ml).
At last I would recommend you to smell it first, if you are interested in bergamot fragrance, because this particullary note is not very present
