The most luxurious boudoir scent

This is going to be a strange review. Because I love the scent, it's just not for me.

I love the scent because it reminds me of buzzing bees making honey, juicy fruit hanging from trees warmed by the sun, with a generous dose of fluffy white musk. I was totally surprised not to see any fruit listed, I could have sworn it contained blueberry! Blueberry-honey-white musk is what I smell.

It feels very "French", very happy, very tender. It actually reminds me a lot of "Love, Don't be Shy" by Kilian, but I must admit that I prefer The Musc, both as a scent as well as performance-wise. It just feels more organic, more natural.

Unfortunately I cannot wear it, for the same reason I cannot wear most modern Guerlains. It is too sweet for me, too much like a (high quality) macaron. But that's just me! This is a solid offering, and extremely good value for money.

Interesting laundry detergent

And by laundry detergent I dont mean a blue fragrance. This is musky, feminine with a sensible amount of beeswax.
A perfect scent to feel clean, it literally gives you the illusion of a white bed sheet waving in the wind in the sun after being washed, not bad at all and one of the only scents from this house that I can actually appreciate wearing. Another scent from them that id get a small bottle for my pocket lol, definitely worth trying.

Squeaky clean

Do you want to smell like you just pulled your clothes out of the drier with ten drier sheets? Then meticulously scrubbed your entire body with baby wipes? If so, The Musc is for you! This is a nice fragrance for those who need something that is inoffensive and reassuring of cleanliness. It is the opposite of an animalic. I could see a person working in healthcare or education getting a lot of use out of it. The lavender and beeswax are rather relaxing as well. I get decent projection and a little bit of sillage for the first hour, then it creates a close scent bubble for another 3-4 hours before becoming a skin scent. Longevity is average. If you like the Clean Reserve line, you'll probably like this.

Inventive, daring blend that's sharp, fresh, and little spicy. Unique.

Essential Parfums The Musc has a name that made me think that tea would be a key note, but instead, the note breakdown is a very varied, interesting mix of red ginger, lavandin, floral notes, beeswax, sandalwood, and musks. It opens very brightly and sharply, almost effervescent and aldehydic, and has nice balance between sharpness and sweetness that makes it feel a bit versatile. I definitely like it quite a bit, but I’m not sure I love it, but I know I love the inventive, daring aspects of its conception and creation. The ginger/lavandin combination is the most prominent defining aspect of the fragrance, but it’s certainly modified and mollified by the citrus/resin/wood combination in the background.

Like the rest of the line, this is EDP concentration and priced very reasonably at $96 for 100ml, and is sold at US boutiques like Ministry of Scent. And like most of the line, this performs quite well. I’d certainly recommend trying it along with the others via a discovery set.

Woody Musk

On my skin, it opens more musk than tea, with a bit of a watery vibe. Then, it somewhat quickly dries down to a light vanilla with some herbal aromatic touches. The vanilla is light, and not sweet or gourmand at all, with just a touch of envelope glue.

The Musc is actually quite nice and somewhat along the lines of Kayali Velvet Santal, which also feels like a white T-shirt fragrance. I looked up the notes later and was beyond confused as I get no lavender on my skin whatsoever (or ginger or beeswax or sandalwood??) and my husband didn’t detect any on me either. He said he thought it was a soft amber.

Surprisingly persistent and clear as day on the skin 17hrs later, though with minimal protection.

Sprayed on from tester bottle at Ministry of Scent. Worn a full day and slept in by the time of writing.
