Finally cancelling my Ffern subscription
I'm leaving this review on Winter 26, but this really applies to Ffern as a whole. The fragrances are just not for me. There is an earthy DNA that is shared across all their releases, and truthfully, I only smell the slightest differences between seasons. I tried all four seasons from 25-26 and I returned all of them.

Winter 26 does not smell like a lighthouse on the sea. It has a green, herbal, earthy vibe, the same as every other release. They all feel more like home fragrances than something I would want to wear.

The business model of the company seems ultimately silly to me. The entire "ledger" system is just marketing to make you feel like you're missing out if you don't sign up. They invest so much in visually beautiful ad videos to (once again) make you feel like you're missing out. But why would you even want to fall in love with a fragrance that will never be released again?

They need to cut it out with the weird marketing and subscription model. Just make a good fragrance and let us buy it without signing up for a subscription before even smelling it!

Gentle coldwater coastline
Feels slightly cool and coastal. This scent is much more salty, briny, and marine on the skin than on paper, but it’s not a strong scent at all, I imagine more of a tide pool than crashing ocean waves. The herbs in here are yellow rather than green - chamomile and eucalyptus. This manages to avoid feeling medicinal, but it does have a wintery feel to it, I can see why it might evoke memories of getting a cold as a kid in the winter, sipping herbal tea. The seaweed notes in here are blue rather than green - with the cool notes, it’s easy to get the impression of dark, coldwater seaweed.

I will note that this is definitely a British winter, not a Canadian one. It doesn’t feel cold or snowy, just cool and damp. Once the first spicy, chilly notes fade away (fairly quickly), there’s a warm spiciness that comes out, in my experience at least, way stronger on paper. This is a very gentle scent, it really doesn’t last particularly long. But what it leaves behind is cozy, wintery, and I think lives up to the marketing visuals of a lighthouse by the sea.

Meet me at the Lighthouse
I am a marketing victim.
Come to me with natural ingredients, sea, lighthouse lightness, and the feeling of individuality, and I will be the first to stand at the top, smelling good while looking out at the sea.
Before the mail arrived today, I looked on in shame as I stashed the tenth aquatic fragrance in my cabinet.
Often too salty, too bitter, my expectations were accordingly.
I sprayed with little hope, and my pupils must have dilated immediately.
I last felt this way with the far too expensive Oceania.
I feel balance, sweetness in the salty, freshness in the eucalyptus cosmos.
I sniff and suddenly instead of quickly looking out at the sea, I gaze at it slowly. At peace with myself and my day that I will spend here as a lighthouse keeper.
I gladly embrace being a marketing victim, thank you for the experience, the beautiful packaging, the diffuser, the lovely cards and tags, and my new sea scent.

I wanted to love you...
Once again, Ffern presents a wonderful story for this year's winter fragrance. A lighthouse by the English sea, the salty scent in the air.

A dream, especially for someone who grew up by the coast and loves the sea, so I had high hopes.

However, I mainly get peppermint and the association with medicine. Who doesn't remember being sick as a child and having their upper chest rubbed with a cold balm to help them breathe better?

I’m so sorry, but the sea unfortunately smells completely different to me :(

Familiar Stranger - a special scent!
For me personally, a special perfume. I find it hard to define exactly what it smells like, as many different unknown notes emerge that still somehow feel familiar. A blend of various natural ingredients, characteristically herbal and spicy, but interwoven with a fine, citrusy brightness.

I have tested it over several days and also showed it to others in my circle - overall, I received very good feedback! It is not perceived as a "banger," as one might expect from other perfumes - yet this fragrance simply evokes a cozy feeling. It definitely fits the theme of "winter," even though I could imagine wearing it in other seasons as well.

The ingredients speak for themselves - and that sets this perfume apart from the crowd for me. No unnecessary additives, just pure natural organic ingredients - that's how perfume should be! I am very curious to see what "Ffern" will release this year!

Cool and fresh with something dark & earthy under the surface. Like a crisp morning walk in winter, the ground sparkling with frost.

I like it better each time. The drydown makes it special. The theme comes out perfectly. Salty, green, floral, fresh.

After some similar perfumes, this one offers a bit more variety: spicy, citrusy, eucalyptus. Strong expression, but it doesn't fill a gap in my needs.

After the Nimm2 lemon has faded, I smell like a beautiful spring flower. For me, it's definitely spring instead of winter.

Unfortunately, not a beacon at the English sea, as promised. Starts citrusy-minty-eucalyptus. Then in the middle, sweeter, mimosa +...
