Coconut flavored pencil shavings
I bought a Floral Street discovery kit at the beginning of my journey and kind of forgot about it for awhile. I've been trying to declutter my older samples, now that I'm more aware of what I like and what I dislike. I have a feeling Floral Street fragrances aren't my vibe anymore (and maybe they weren't when I bought them, I just didn't know better at that time), but I decided I was going to give them a fair chance. They're no longer sold at Sephora (took me way too long to get to them), so I don't even know how I'll get my hands on them if I enjoy one of them. Oh well, on to the review!
The start of this fragrance is coconut, madagascan pepper and cashmere woods and it remains like that for a while. I get a very strong pencil shaving spiciness paired with a creamy coconut that goes over the line and into sunscreen territory. Definitely not my kind of thing as I've already ruled out I'm not a coconut girl. As it moves on, I get a green, subtle fruitiness from the fig leaf, that is a bit jarring through the creaminess, woodiness and spiciness I'm getting. Drydown is a bit more palatable with the soft cashmere woods and muskiness coming through. There's unfortunately a strong streak of synthetic freshness that becomes more and more present as time passes (ambroxan is that you?).
I'm gonna be honest, there's something wrong here, something that's not vibing well. There are definitely better fragrances out there than this one and I don't know if it's the note pairing or the chemical compounds used for this fragrance, but there's something that ain't it. Doesn't give me much hope for the reste of my Floral Street samples, but we'll see...
