Mother Goddess?
With great enjoyment I would like to write a little and elaborated text about the many myths refering to the ancient Mother Goddes, the Magna Mater with her chariot: "Cybèle". The mighty and different ancient goddesses existed thousands of years before the great Godfathers became more and more omnipotent into the pantheon until now where there seems to be only one Godfather the Almighty.
If somebody is interrested, there are many exciting versions in the English site of Wikipedia (compared with those of the German site).
I am not inspired because compairing this great prehistorical Goddesses with the Galimar-scent "Cybèle" would be inappropriate and seems to me just pompous.
"Cybèle" is a fine and light fruity-floral scent. Lily of the valley? No, I am smelling tuberose and jasmine but not of the obstrusive but the noble kind. A whiff of decent fruity acidity with a slightly metallic touch gives "Cybèle" a fresh direction. This all is embraced by the creamyness of santal and of course synthetically white musc.
But then nothing else is happening during the very good longevity. I am not perceiving cedar nor any woody note. In allusion of the mighty goddess there is a lack of something animalike, civet, dirty musc and amber gris. Not to forget oakmoss and patchouli or oud.
And out of all I am missing the smoke of incense to draw the smoke-sacrifices.
"Cybèle" is only a good being fragance for well behaved women and girls.

Grasse Rose and Sandalwood with Black Currant
What Burgundy means to lovers of French cuisine, Grasse means to perfume aficionados. Once the center of European perfumery, Grasse today hosts only a few perfume producers. Among the handful of companies still active in Grasse is the Parfumerie Galimard, founded in 1747 by Jean de Galimard, Count of Seranon, which remains family-owned to this day. The Parfumerie Galimard still sources its raw materials such as roses, jasmine, lavender, oranges, mimosas, and tuberoses from nature in and around Grasse.
The floral-fruity, sensual Cybèle is all about a dark rose from Grasse, flanked by sandalwood and black currant. Despite the tangerine, Cybèle does not start citrus-fresh, but rather fruity and a bit spicy, and it condenses into a deep red, almost black rose and the black berries into a floral-fruity-woody composition that gains depth and is rounded off by vanilla and cedarwood. Galimard itself classifies Cybèle among the orientals; for me, Cybèle is a fruity bouquet floral-woody scent. As so often, the list on the right states: users who liked Cybèle often also like … which I find incomprehensible. There are almost no overlaps, as there are worlds between Cybèle and the smoky-bitter Cabochard Gres with its pronounced tobacco and leather notes, as well as between Cybèle and the sweet-floral, narcotically dominated Jil Sander No.4.

P.S. on 3.7.2014: I was informed by a perfumer that only light-blooded roses grow in and around Grasse and that there are no completely dark ones, and that it is not correct to speak of a dark Grasse rose. Therefore, the dark rose scent in the perfume must have come about with the active support of the chemistry set. I hereby provide this information for the sake of completeness.

Pleasant oriental scent, not too heavy but light, cheerful, and slightly fruity. Wearable every day. Base of sandalwood and a hint of vanilla.

Lightly fruity-floral. Pressing white flowers. Slightly sour, sweet-green-creamy, synthetic over time. Base is sandalwood creamy. OK.

I just had the delayed realization: there is indeed a scent connection to "Knot" - but warmer and sweeter.
