Ma Faute Galimard

Galimard Ma Faute is a pretty true lily-of-the-valley scent. I'd expected this to be a more summery scent due to the citrus top notes, but those disappear rapidly so it feels like a true spring scent.

Right in the midst of winter, smelling spring is very uplifting, even moreso now currently the temperatures outside are unseasonally mild, you'd almost think spring is just around the corner... NOT! (it is only Dec 24 2012)

Drydown is supposed to have more patchouli, which makes it suitable for wearing in the midst of winter. Feeling happy!

I feel like I'm sitting in a summer meadow, surrounded by a few flowers and holding a big bottle of Fanta. The scent feels simple, not a highly complex affair - I like that. But this Fanta note (bergamot + green notes + vanilla) makes the fragrance far too playful and girlish. Now the title "Ma Faute" makes sense. I mean, after 10 years of school French, it should mean something like "This is my fault," "I am at fault," or "This is my mistake." Here, the wearer seems to want to officially apologize or cleanse herself, hoping to regain innocence through her admission. Fanta thus rehabilitates and is supposed to support this apology. Add to that big doe eyes and an expectant look, and who could still be angry?!

No, of course, Fanta is not everything - just a silly association of mine that doesn't quite do justice to the fragrance. Perhaps the young girl in an Italian flower meadow near bergamot trees is the more fitting analogy.
Nice scent, where you can smell everything, doesn't blow me away, but there's nothing disturbing about it. The fragrance could appeal to many here. I miss a bit of depth and uniqueness. For all flower-sweet lovers, it's worth a test.
