Beautiful Aquate

I really like Oceania!
Great aquatic notes, beautiful fresh elements, pleasantly citrusy, subtly peppery, and slightly green.

The fragrance starts off with a truly prominent aquatic note. The listed sea breeze fits in quite well here. It harmonizes beautifully with the citrus components and has a slight peppery touch.

As the scent develops, I notice a very subtle, I would almost say, floral note.
The lavender comes to the forefront and adds a wonderful touch. It remains aquatic throughout and that continues on my skin until the end.

In the dry down, it becomes a bit greener for me without losing the aquatic vibes.

Longevity and sillage are very solid and remarkable for this type of fragrance.

Definitely worth a try.

A Great Aquatic with Character

Oceania is one of the fragrances by Paolo Terenzi that unfortunately receives little attention; I really can't understand the reasons for this. I must clearly deny any association with a similarity to Percival. Oceania bears no resemblance to Percival or the twin of all modern aquatics, Fierce. I also can't really see how any similarity could be recognized here.

The comparison to shower gel is accurate, but if that bothers someone, they should perhaps generally avoid perfumes with aquatic notes, as this association often exists here.

Oceania is one of the best aquatics I have tested so far. Oceania is fresh with bergamot and bitter orange, which harmonizes very well with the aquatic note. The fruits in the heart note temper the aquatic notes and effectively prevent any algae smell or anything musty. I can't really identify the fruits individually, but they serve their purpose perfectly. The base note with oud and moss makes the fragrance darker and spicier and ensures good longevity. I can only perceive the base note very softly. Oceania perfectly carries the aquatic theme through to the end while remaining fresh and reminiscent of a vacation by the sea.

The longevity is also good. I can perceive Oceania for a solid 8 hours. The sillage is very strong for 2-3 hours, and from the 4th hour, the sillage diminishes to just under an arm's length.

The Vastness of the Ocean...

… is also a symbol of freedom and the spirit of exploration. Not only is the scent of fresh sea air easy to sell, but so is the idea of the lifestyle associated with it. Paolo Terenzi seems to be a true jack-of-all-trades (Have I ever used this word in my life?) as he creates new fragrances almost continuously for Tiziana Terenzi, V Canto, and Giardino Benessere, which are often described quite elaborately. In the case of Oceania, it is stated among other things:

"[...] enriched by the exclusive Terenzi Library molecule known as Oxygen. When sprayed into the air, this innovative and unique molecule triggers an incredible effervescent and refreshing effect."

So we can all consider ourselves lucky to be able to inhale such an exclusive molecule (O2) every day...

I must admit, however, that the top note - for me a 10/10 - indeed has something of a cool sea breeze. It is skillfully crafted here and is more airy-aquatic than salty maritime, initially particularly associated with citrus and fruity notes. This is not only refreshing but also lifts the spirits. (Some pure niche snobs might describe it as too designer-like, though.) In the background, a hint of cardamom and lavender can be sensed, but everything is - as mentioned - subtly intertwined, so nothing really stands out strongly. However, the disappointment follows for me in the drydown, as it cannot compete with the wonderful opening - it comes across as a bit too pale and primarily musky-clean with only a slight woodiness. To recognize oud here, one would need an immense amount of imagination...

For such a perfume, the longevity is quite decent, although I quickly get the feeling with Oceania that I am only wearing a skin scent, while I am still enveloped by a diffuse freshness. Oceania is an uncomplicated fragrance, absolutely unisex and versatile, yet I experience the same dilemma here as with many summer scents, where after the fading of the fresh top notes, often only a rather plain base accord remains (keyword: top note blender). At a price of two euros per milliliter, that is too little for me to trigger a buying impulse. Paolo Terenzi could have invested a bit more spirit of exploration here.
