Anyone looking for the "cellar" here will find an "attic"...
...because it is a rather "dusty" representative of its kind. There is a large window "upstairs", letting the sunlight shimmer through frosted panes. Lots of old wooden furniture, most of it still intact, is stored here. There is also a kitchen cupboard from the 1950s. With all kinds of leftover spices in small glass drawers. Nutmeg and cloves, cardamom, even a few dried plums, preserved in the dry attic air. A lot of books that have been exuding their sweet-woody, almost vanilla-like lignin scent for years. And a long-empty rum barrel that subtly perfumes everything. Of course, there are also a few dusty perfume bottles from a bygone era, from which remnants of the fragrances they once contained escape. Lots of patchouli, which has lasted the longest. In all possible shades. From light grass green to dark earthy brown. And vetiver. This duo once fixed the contents of the fragrance bottles. And that's what's left. I can also catch a glimpse of ambergris. There is a mild twilight, powdery dust particles dance in front of the large window panes, clinging to a faint floral aroma. Oh yes, there are also incense cones, lit at some point and then gone out. Fine clouds of incense curl up imaginary and distant, yet still perceptible. It's autumn, and despite the sunny weather, a cool wind is already blowing outside. But most of it stays outside. Except for tiny cracks and crevices in the whitewashed brickwork. Is it the musk that sets tiny cold accents? Otherwise, the incoming sun warms the large room and supports everything
the slightly melancholic vintage fragrance :-))
