The name Vanderbilt carries a lot of weight in the United States. The ancestors of Gloria Vanderbilt (born in 1924) shaped the American railroad (Reginald Vanderbilt), founded shipping companies (Cornelius Vanderbilt), and created fashion designs (Gloria Morgan-Vanderbilt). In the press, Gloria was also referred to as the “poor little rich girl.” That is why Gloria Vanderbilt's work attracted a lot of attention immediately after its market launch.
Gloria Vanderbilt (actually Gloria Laura Vanderbilt) was passionate about writing, painting, acting, and fashion. It was only in her later years that the New Yorker established exquisite fragrances that still have a loyal following today.
The fragrances of the Gloria Vanderbilt label include eau de toilette, deodorant, shower gel, and body lotion. The first six fragrances were released between 1946 and 1950, starting with the iconic Diamant Bleu. The versatile artist then turned her attention to other projects and did not release any further fragrance creations until 1982. Many fragrances, such as the only men's fragrance, Vanderbilt for Men, also bear the family name in their name. With ingredients such as jasmine, cedar, lily of the valley, and oakmoss, Gloria Vanderbilt fragrances are predominantly floral-fresh to fruity-sweet.
The label also sells a range of fashion items (mainly women's trousers made from velour, corduroy, cotton, and in a denim look).
Anyone interested in fragrances from Gloria Vanderbilt, the first “it girl,” will find what they are looking for in specialist perfume stores, drugstores, and department stores.
