"Soapy" marshmallow + citrus + ylang-ylang

Best way I know how to describe this is a "clean marshmallow":

- A little bit soapy-musky (like a white musk - very inoffensive, but also with the indistinct floral blend of a white soap)
- A pillowy, soft, vanilla marshmallow cloud as the base

It's calming, classy, soft, slightly sweet, and clean. As the scent evolves, more of the clementine and ylang-ylang show up - a bit of sharpness cutting through the fluffy-ness.

The dry down feels a little confusing, as the clementine and ylang-ylang seem to compete with the overall softness of the other notes - so it wasn't for me personally. But I know this is a love for many, so it's still worth sampling.

Montblanc Signature

The first day that I wore this, I had worked a 6 hour shift and afterward, joined 3 of my friends at Starbucks for coffee. We were there for a couple of hours and at the end when I hugged everyone goodbye, my one friend said, "Ohhhhhh, you smell GOOD!!!" My other friend then said, "So that's the smell I kept smelling!" She then asked me to text her the name of the perfume, along with a picture of the bottle and box.
After 8 hours, I could easily still smell it on myself and others could smell it on me as well, which is a testament to its strength, lasting power and projection.
First and foremost, this is a musky perfume but it's not a pungent smelling musk. It's refined, classy, alluring, sweet and creamy. Beyond the musk, I get something floral. It almost has a rosey vibe to it, so I'm assuming it's the peony. I believe the vanilla note is what's giving it that sweet touch but it's not at all gourmand. The ylang ylang chimes in to give it some depth. I don't smell the other notes. Everything mixes nicely for an overall pleasing and almost addictive effect.
This really is a beautiful fragrance, especially for the price. You can easily find this online at a reasonable price point.
The bottle itself is stunning, the white and cold combo is so pretty and expensive looking.
The fragrance reminds me of a Narciso Rodriguez creation at a fraction of the cost.
A very successful blind-buy for me indeed!

the phantom limb of someone else's life

Montblanc Signature is a weird one in that it's not really weird at all (it's pretty basic in composition and execution, right?), but it makes me feel some weird, twisty things. If that makes sense. It's a sort of echo-y, empty, fresh, woody,- dewy-floral melange that smells like you're using someone else's shampoo, a pearlescent lather of white musk more expensive than you care to consider. You're sleeping under a stranger's crisp white sheets, cool against your skin, the lingering dryer sheet scent of magnolia petals and fat peony blooms, their honeyed sweetness clinging to the fabric.

Maybe a friend of a friend has an apartment for rent while they're off being an influencer in France, so you're availing yourself of their expensively furnished, minimalist-chic accommodations for a few months in a particularly hip part of town. You spend a lot of time lonely in the apartment, trying on her silk blouses and cashmere sweaters, picking through her curated book selection of vintage Vogue and art photography books, and trying to get a sense of who she is. You're also stalking her social media a fair bit, and like a magpie hoarding glittering scraps, you gather up her turns of phrase and mannerisms, embellishing your own reflection with borrowed plumage. You begin ordering Door Dash deliveries under her name, all the culinary delicacies she'd artfully Instagrammed in her travels, noodles slick with sauce, and hundreds of tiny, bitter cups of coffee. You imagine her beside you, laughter echoing in the sterile silence, a phantom limb you ache to touch.

The line between mimicry and metamorphosis blurs. The creamy magnolia unfurls, a faded photograph of intimacies never shared. The luminous musk, clean and faintly powdery, becomes a shroud, a borrowed identity that both suffocates and intoxicates. This fragrance doesn't just smell like wearing someone else's perfume; it smells like the unsettling alchemy of becoming someone else. And in that borrowed skin, in that stolen life, the question lingers: just how far will you go to become more than just her shadow?

Mandarin cheesecake and clean musk

Fluffy, creamy, cuddly vanilla and musk with a lovely sweet clementine on top. The combination of warming vanilla and lively citrus often puts me in a good mood, and this is no exception. It gives me mandarin cheesecake vibes, but with enough musk and subtle florals to make it easy to wear. None of the flowers in the heart really stand out, they just keep the scent from becoming too literal of a gourmand. A touch of benzoin in the base adds extra warmth.

The musk in this is not the typical white musk that many drugstore scents have, it's a bit sharper and more modern.

I understand the comparison to Initio Musk Therapy, but the intense vanilla in Montblanc Signature makes it easy to tell them apart.
Other aspects of the scent are similar to Lattafa Yara, which I absolutely love. The color of the bottles of these two is very telling, Yara smells like the pink version of the white-yellow-gold Montblanc Signature.

This would work on most occasions and temperatures, so it would make a good signature. It's not the most complex, sophisticated scent, but it's not a super girly and playful sugar bomb either. Just a happy, creamy-clean, delicately sweet, femine perfume. The character of the scent is soft, but it's not weak, I actually find it quite dense texturally.

It's totally worth the upcharge compared to Zara Frosted Cream, which isn't as smooth and has an artificial note that this doesn't have.

Surprising quality for an affordable price - signature scent worthy

Mmmm! This is delightful. Reminds me of VS Tease Cream Cloud, but much more nuanced and with better performance. I love the heavy bottle and the simple yet addictive vanilla and mandarin combo. Truly an easy reach and a very good candidate for a signature scent, if only I could settle for just one!
