Blue but not a Bummer!
Unfortunately, as La Nuit de L'Homme Bleu Électrique has become harder to find and increasingly expensive, I had been looking occasionally for clones of the YsL original. I had heard about Jack of Clubs but never jumped on it. Seeing this popup at a discounter, I did some digging into it, and came to find there is scant information about this available online past an Instagram post from the house themselves and maybe two videos on YouTube, which intrigued me; and being $35 I was going to be able to stomach the cost if I hated it.
Purported to contain simply four notes (according to Grandeur themselves), I can verifiably say that's a lie. This opens with a plentiful burst of ginger and lavender, and instantly reminds me of the YsL original with this [Iconic Nuit] seeming to have more ginger. The lavender does come off powderier than Bleu Electrique, but the woody notes help smooth it out after it dries a little.
I'll admit I tried to hate this, but I often find myself going for it as a "dumb reach" and it fits into that "safe blue" category. Something worthy to note is: If you like Valentino Uomo Born In Roma Intense you'll probably like this, as I find the Lavender/Vetiver accord in this [Iconic Nuit] really reminds me of UBiRIs dry-down.
From my experience I get 7-ish hours longevity and a conversational distance sillage. It's nothing special, nothing groundbreaking, it just smells good! If you wanted a good blue pickup, that's under $40? I'd give this a try. The bottle is kinda average in my opinion, the magnets on the cap are a nice addition, but they're so weak they don't really do much to hold the cap in place (like Armani Code Parfum’s magnetic cap). But again, for $35 I can't complain too much.
