Bored in Roma
Damn, why the hell did I buy this fragrance! I have enough sweet stuff, enough vanilla, lavender, fruit and freshness. Yes, enough synthetics too. An unnecessary purchase. So why?

At the forefront certainly this fresh straight-in-your-face sweetness, combined with cool lavender, indefinable (berry(?)) Fruit and the aroma chemicals that give you a long nose. Very pleasing, mildly offensive, clingy.

My wild thesis on the actual reason for buying it, however, is rather the lack of certain elements that paradoxically made it interesting for me. Notes that are often found in my fragrances that are vaguely comparable to BIRI, such as iris. BIRI also has a slightly powdery effect on me, but without this lipstick vibe. Above all, however, it lacks spice. The fragrance seems conspicuously lacking in spice to me, the pinch of nutmeg drowns in a sea of lavender and vanilla.

This passive-aggressive restraint makes the fragrance extremely accessible and charming. The nice boy next door. After wearing it several times, however, I now realize that it ultimately leaves me bored. Apart from the fact that I am certainly at least 20 years older than the presumed target group, I should have realized before I bought it that I would quickly lose my impulsive interest in the fragrance. Another lesson on my fragrance journey.

And now? Give it away? Let it gather dust? Try out the souk? Nope! I layer it with dark fragrances, especially oud. This creates an exciting symbiosis for me, as oud fragrances are often too heavy and stick to me like fresh-from-the-gruft.

Overall, in my opinion, UBIRI is a lovely, just barely masculine fragrance that would have benefited from a little more spice. It is a safe choice for anyone looking for a reasonably priced EdP with a friendly character and strong performance for various occasions.

Characterless mass appeal
I really liked Born in Roma Intense at the beginning, but it has become increasingly boring for me over time. The mixture of vanilla and lavender is quite nice and also quite beautiful, but also very soft. In my opinion, the fragrance has too little character and is mainly mass appealing. Someone who perhaps wants a more exciting fragrance should rather not get Born in Roma Intense.

Actually, I do not like vanilla, but...
I had sprayed a spray of it on my left wrist while shopping, on the right a spray of Le Male. The dark, uncompromising has then convinced me compared to the coffee-cookie good Le Male. (I would not say that Le Male is bad, it was just not what I was looking for, Le Male also has a very nice base).

It reminded me of Roma Uomo (Laura Biagiotti), because of the stark sweetness. With the Italians, I've often thought that there is this attitude: "It does not matter if a thing is a cliché, as long as it is beautiful!" So a bit in this direction goes this fragrance.

Somehow, the lavender and ginger give the vanilla even more freshness and take away the heaviness.
The top notes are really rather sweet/fresh.

After a while, the warm spice still partly reminds of tonka bean, but is not listed. Nutmeg perhaps, but if then mild. At some point you think there is now still what fruity with, perhaps that arises when ginger and lavender say good day, but is only a guess
On the one hand pleasing, on the other hand vanilla.

The base comes along slightly powdery/resinous, but is quite pleasant, has such a dry spiciness. Have once read that vetiver can be woody and also smoky, so I guess that it is. Would like the fragrance times with leather / smoke / oud layer and could also well imagine that there would be a successor where this idea is implemented and which shoots in the direction of Ombre Nomade.

With lavender I immediately think of Sauvage. Sauvage with vanilla. Vanilla I had so far tunlichst avoided. Even the flacon is a game with male role models and looks like an SM toy. That is already an announcement.
Interesting also how versatile a design theme can be. In the original, the flacon reminded me more of a liqueur bottle in a classy Italian ice cream parlor.

The bottle is sturdy and the atomizer is pretty good.

I do not know if it's just me, but I stand in front of the fan after spraying until I am dry, then the experience is somehow fresher. Otherwise, the vanilla wafting around in the shirt and slays everything. Although it says here:
"Top notes: vanilla, ginger
Heart notes: Provençal lavender, nutmeg" and accordingly one would expect that the top notes end earlier than the heart notes. However, it seems to me as if the lavender already ends when the vanilla just starts again.

Others here I can only agree: "Sympathetic synthetic soup", "he will sell well and annoy everywhere", "are the Romans crazy?". Party drug I would say.

Fresh Creamy Delicious
It quite funny that this gets an average of 7.5 and the majority of the reviewers hate on it. There are many colognes out there that have simple notes but smell more complex. I really don’t get the bubblegum thing either. For me this smelled similar to Most wanted by Azzaro but a little more Smokey and creamy. This is a great performer and pulls complements. Presentation is very interesting and the atomizer has nice distribution. I see this as a more masculine scent due to the smokiness. I would suggest try b4 you buy, but if you like a Most Wanted type DNA, go for it, this is a little darker and less sharp, and you will like the Smokey sweetness in the dry down.

An intensive bond
Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Intense is indeed an intense fragrance. The sweetness in particular is intensely perceptible, although the vetiver also gives it a synthetic character. In any case, the intensity of the fragrance makes it immediately clear that it is only suitable for everyday use to a limited extent. If your everyday life takes place in the fresh air, this does not apply. But for all those whose everyday life takes place indoors, be careful not to exceed three to four sprays. Otherwise, the fragrance could take your breath away a little, but not in a good way. As far as the occasion is concerned, however, I see Born in Roma Intense more as a fragrance for evenings out and, in moderate doses, also as a fragrance for a date. If you want to play it safe on a date, you should of course choose a fresh fragrance. But I can also imagine that Born in Roma Intense layered with a fresh fragrance works really well. As far as the season is concerned, I would avoid summer with this fragrance. But it should work well in the other seasons.
But now to my assessment of the fragrance itself. You will probably have noticed from my previous reviews of Joop Homme, 1 Million Parfum or Azzaro Wanted, for example, that I am not the biggest fan of fragrances with a very overpowering sweetness. Here, however, the whole thing is somehow different. The sweetness is very present and also a little intrusive. However, I don't find it unpleasant. I was a little surprised at first. However, when comparing it with the fragrances mentioned above, I noticed that they either have fragrance notes that are already overpowering or alternatively have so many fragrance notes that the fragrance is simply completely overloaded. That's why I'm bringing out my favorite example, Scandal le parfum by Jean-Paul Gaultier. The situation is similar with this fragrance. Scandal le parfum is also a fragrance with a synthetic sweetness, which also has an above-average sillage. It is therefore reasonable to assume that this fragrance tends to be somewhat more intrusive. However, my assessment of Scandal le parfum was also quite positive.
And I'll try to explain that briefly here. The reason that I like the two fragrances and not the ones mentioned above is that they are more pleasantly blended for me. Both Born in Roma Intense and Scandal le parfum tend to have slightly fewer fragrance notes and maintain a pleasant balance between them. In both fragrances, the synthetic sweetness dominates, but not to an extent that could be perceived as unpleasant. On the contrary, for people who like sweet fragrances, both are really good options. Only for those of you who have a strong aversion to synthetic fragrances are the two fragrances not an option.
But back to Born in Roma Intense. The fragrance has a pleasant sweetness for me and despite the fact that it dominates, I find the fragrance to be well balanced. However, I think that the fragrance would be even better if the fresh character of the scent had been intensified a little. I would not greatly reduce the intensity of the sweetness, but rather add a fresh note to the fragrance and thus intensify the freshness of the scent.
Otherwise, I think the fragrance is really successful. Longevity and sillage are well above average. And for the occasions for which I would use the fragrance, it would be one of my first options, as I have somehow fallen in love with the fragrance.

A balanced aroma compared to the overly sugary Born in Roma scents. It works in most social scenarios, but won't impress versed fragheads.

I’ve worn this three times now and I still can’t remember what it smells like after it wears off. Pleasant but utterly forgettable.
