This is how Southern Californians smell!
After my slight disappointment with SoCal Cologne, I didn't expect much from the flanker. SoCal Sunset was rated worse, and often flankers are a loveless copy of the original. But it was included in the package, so it was tested as well.
After the first spray, I experienced what is probably the best fresh opening of my life.
Don't get me wrong. There are plenty of fragrances that can blow you away and possess an elegance that no other perfume can achieve. This scent here is nothing extraordinary, no profound fragrance with a strong development or something you've never smelled before. But this opening...
So I sprayed the fragrance and immediately smelled very pleasant citrus notes with a loving, slightly warm sweetness. I would have loved to drink the bottle right away. It smells delicious, summery, refreshing, and there is joy upon the first sniff. No idea how they managed that.
And the best part: this is exactly how I imagined Southern Californians! Vacation vibes at the beach, people surfing or skating, juices or cocktails being enjoyed, and an incredibly good atmosphere overall. This fragrance completely conveys that for me.
In the drydown, which unfortunately sets in much faster than with the regular SoCal, the typical SoCal leather scent remains. However, it still smells very pleasant even for someone like me who avoids leather. I would estimate the longevity to be about 6 hours with an hour of projection. You definitely have to make concessions compared to the original, but you also get the fresher scent.
Those who like sweet freshies will surely not be disappointed here :)
A little addition about the bottle: It looks amazing. The bottle beautifully represents a sunset with its tint, and the black lettering on the side looks very chic. Plus, the clear perfume, which unlike SoCal no longer looks like a brown, unsummery soup.
