The Long Night Of Shooting Stars
After visiting the most frivolous fragrances, Festival Vibes for Him and Festival Party for Him, the time has come to describe this gem that wants to challenge the warriors of the night. Festival Nite presents itself as very interesting and is better than I thought. Before trying it, I thought it would be a simple boyish perfume, but it has more complexity than just the average fragrance.
The first notes that come to me are the fruity ones of the apple mixed with a green accord of mandarin orange leaves and a dusty breath of bergamot peels. The result is not shocking and explosive in the face but thick, dark, and deep. Not mentioned, an aromatic blueish lavender blossom intertwines with the other top notes. Unlike the other two fragrances, I do not feel here the alcoholic note. I like the smell of tangerine leaves, so different from those of petitgrain, less acidic, less sour. This initial mysterious accord immediately suggests that I will wear the perfume during the evening and mundane nighttime events. The notes are slightly dark to my nose, moist, sour, salty and meaty.
The initial explosion gives way to a bitter, slightly spicy, and salty accord. It is difficult for me to distinguish the ginger in this evil concoction, which enhances Sichuan pepper's sweetish and aromatic aspects and the saltier ones of the synthetic molecule of ambroxan. I would say that this synthetic ambergris represents the core of the fragrance, around which all the other notes have been slowly and carefully added. Suppose the initial aroma could recall some other known fragrance. In that case, the heart confirms the similarity with the amber-fougère-oriental cologne of the calibre of Ultra Mâle and Eros Eau de Toilette.
When the perfume settles on the skin and reaches its ultimate state, the sweet, musky and amber accords take their place. Here we find all the creaminess of sandalwood, sweetened by the crunchy coumarin cream present in the tonka bean, and that clean sensation of synthetic white musk. The salty and slightly bitter accord of amber still hovers in the background without overpowering the musks and blond woods.
Shockingly dark, dense, and deep. Festival Nite is the essence of breezy summer evenings racing along the shore with friends. Of the three pieces in the Hollister Festival series, this is the warmest and most sweet, perfectly suited for a summer night moment. For my taste, I find it too powerful to be worn at dinner or date but spotless for clubbing and nightly party outside. I get a satisfactory performance, good longevity and average sillage on my skin. I like to remember that the three Hollister Festival perfumes are not flanker of each other, and each perfume has a distinct aroma from the others. Overall, it does a lot with little.
I base the review on a 50ml bottle I have owned since August 2022.
