rosy glimmer of hope
The early evening of a gray day like today, where it has been raining for hours, is a good opportunity to comment on a summery rose fragrance and let it carry me away.
For in this way, a piece of summer hope comes to me: already eagerly awaited!
I have already noticed some fragrances from ID Parfums Paris/Isabel Derroisné positively on several occasions.
The fact that they only bring joy to a relatively small circle of enthusiasts is probably because, to my knowledge, they are only marketed through the cosmetics company Dr. Pierre Ricaud.
Thus, they are in a situation today similar to that of the very first fragrances from Yves Rocher: they can only be obtained via mail order.
As a result, they receive relatively little attention. Although many of them can easily compete with some of the common fragrance creations found in drugstores.
Some of these fragrances are even very original and tell beautiful stories worth listening to.
A few days ago, I received a sample of the new summer fragrance "Rosa Folia".
Leslie Girard has created a charming bouquet of roses here that would excite any woman in floral form.
Once again, you can feel the feminine creativity based on good solid craftsmanship.
I truly mean this positively: everything created with love and dedication is simply beautiful!
"Rosa Folia" immediately delights with its summery fruitiness: black currants with their slightly bitter yet sweet spiciness meet delicately dosed pink pepper.
This introduction is underscored by a berry blend that I cannot quite define (there might be a hint of raspberries in it) and the noble aroma of the rather rare rosewood.
Unfortunately, a bit of mandarin peel (according to the brochure) has also been added; this introduces the usual synthetic note in the fragrance progression for a short time.
What a pity, this is an addition that the perfumer could have done without, in my opinion.
Fortunately, this bothersome element dissipates quite quickly.
Instead, an incredibly rich rose heart unfolds: I immediately think of the heavy flower heads of fully bloomed old-fashioned fragrant roses!
A walk in the sunlit rose garden, where this queen of flowers can still be herself and not an artificial hybrid, appears in my imagination.
The memory of one of Claude Monet's paintings of his rose garden in its vibrant colors comes to mind.
The impression of a midsummer afternoon, perhaps at the "hour of Pan," when thick, contented bumblebees and many colorful butterflies stagger through this rose garden and the cicadas offer their loud adoration to their supposedly so silent mates, seems almost perfect.
I would love to be there now! (It is still raining outside!)
This delightful fragrance dream is based on bright, pleasantly fragrant woods embraced by a rich woody amber accord.
The small yet intensely fragrant violet fits very well into this base note: it adds the final, missing accent to this fragrance symphony.
This "Rosa Folia" is currently a quite affordable fragrance creation that conveys a summer mood.
Feminine, sensual, with a touch of refinement and on the other hand so naturally unburdened and dreamy like a woman freshly in love in summer.
This summery, charming rose fragrance has been captured in a classic bottle.
It fits well in the hand and wonderfully emphasizes the richness of the fragrant content with its straight lines; a little more than this almost-purism would have been too much here.
Rose fragrance enthusiasts should perhaps give this "Rosa Folia" a chance.
I am quite sure: it will be worth it for them!
