Like rural Japan
FLEUR DE BAMBU is my first foray into the offerings of the house of Il Profvmo, which I have often wondered about but somehow never encountered. Guusjes was kind enough to send me a generous sample of this perfume, which I have now tested a couple of different times.

Initially I thought that I did not like FLEUR DE BAMBU, because it seems somewhat aquatic and therefore not really my kind of thing. However, after a couple tries, I have decided that this composition really is quite nice for what it is. Believe it or not, this creation evokes memories in my mind of rural Japan. The wet, glistening grass of rice paddies is the precise image before my mind's eye. The scent is both green and wet, so it's more like grass after a rain. Or rice paddies in rural Japan!

I'm not sure what bamboo is supposed to smell like, although I've certainly smelled bamboo sprouts while preparing or eating various kinds of cuisine. The watery, greenish quality of this perfume seems to match the pale yellowish-green of bamboo sprouts. There is also a watery floral facet to this perfume--probably the water lily and lotus listed among the notes.

Overall, this is still more aquatic than green to my nose, but it smells calm and serene rather than aggressive and angst-ridden, which is my typical reaction to calone-heavy aquatic fragrances. Probably if I overapplied FLEUR DE BAMBU, I'd experience those feelings again, but sparingly applied this is an appealing atmospheric scent.

Eer with the Bamboo, girls!
Eh, friends, do you know that "Parfumo" is not really Italian at all? "PROFUMO" is the correct word, like "un flacone di profumo"! There is also an Italian brand that has this name directly, "IL PROFUMO", so "DIE DUFT" or "DAS PARFUM". Simple! The people from this brand are Italians, but they sometimes create linguistic confusion! In this brand "il profumo" there is a fragrance called "fleur de bambu"! It's a big chaos! "Blüte" is Italian for "fiore", but in French for "Bamboo" it is "bambou", so it either has to be called "fleur de bambou" or "fiore di bambu"! But, words don't matter, if the scent smells good, and, dear friends, the scent smells very, very good!

Recently, I went to the "Parfumo" page and looked at what others think about this fragrance. Eh, I am shocked! All videos, the whole screen: pink, pink, pink, pink! It's materially impossible! So: In the comments, 100 percent of the women, in the statements, 100 percent of the women, in the list "I have in my collection", 100 percent of the women! It's a big flaw in this way, a huge, huge mistake! It's directly a sin against the men!

So, what's in this fragrance, eh? It's Bamboo, Bamboo, Bamboo! Bamboo up, Bamboo down, and there's also rice, lotus, tea! What does it mean? Naturally: Asia! China! Clear! And, China has a traditional system of Yin-Yang! Yang is strictly masculine, and this is the color; a lot of energy; fast movement; hard, then tough material. Yin, on the other hand, is feminine: it's a bit dark, soft, calm, not so moving, got it?

And this perfume from Profumo, this "Fiore di Bambu", how is it? It's totally bright, not dark! Bright, bright, bright! Not only is the liquid in the bottle almost like water, it is also bright in a metaphorical sense, brilliant, radiant, eh! Very clear and pure, eh! So, masculine! And what is the nature of this fragrance, the character? Fresh! Totally fresh, hyper-fresh! It's just as fresh as a scent with a lot of lemon, orange, a bit of fresh green herbs! Just as fresh! But fresh in a different way! A little fresh-mysterious, because it's freshness from Asia, from the East. But it is absolutely no "oriental fragrance" with such heavy, dark. Exactly the opposite! So, again masculine! And, what is the most important component? Clearly, Bamboo! How is bamboo? Art, very, very art! Very stable! And, is bamboo maybe beautifully round, like feminine Yin? But no! It's totally long, tall, art, how do you say, reaching up to the top! That's how the bamboo tree grows, eh? Ultra-Masculine, eh! And, finally, what is the effect of the fragrance? It's like a cup of super-strong green tea, no, more, it's almost like a stimulating legal! Instead of cocaine, which is against the law, is not recommended, you can spray "Fiore di Bambu", then it clears your head immediately and strongly, gives real power all day! So: It's a super-fantastic fragrance! And absolutely masculine! So eer with the bamboo, girls!

Best regards,
your Federico di Spe

Two Bamboo Flowers in the Hair and Bananas at the Hip
The title is a slightly altered version of the former hit by France Gall, which blared from jukeboxes in 1968, and already gives clues about the scent.

Fleur de Bambù is one of my favorites. Hooked by a sample from Igraine, she generously threw me a 15 ml bottle in response to my withdrawal whimper (available in the Il Profumo Shop in 15, 30, 50, and 100 ml), and finally, for Christmas, I received the 100 ml full size.

Now, it gets tricky. This is the first comment on this scent and it’s not easy for me either, as the fragrance is hard to describe and divides opinions.

I have held it under the noses of various people and recorded the following statements:

toilet block
cleaning agent
noble room spray
flower meadow
laundry detergent
perfumed tissue
green leaves
nose-pleaser
positively soothing
white
yellow
soapy
woody
creamy
powdery
cottony

...and it’s all true!

For someone who doesn’t like soapy scents, the association can indeed be cleaning agent and toilet block. I can also understand room spray, as they are usually fresh. But why grimace? After all, we use toilet blocks, cleaning agents, and room sprays SO that it smells GOOD and clean! Gourmand lovers might not want to smell like this, but I wholeheartedly recommend it to all fans of clean and soapy scents, to be spritzed on the skin!

Fleur de Bambù can best be compared to the scent of a freshly opened laundry detergent box. With the powdery-soapy-floral scent that wafts towards you. At first, it might even seem a bit piercing or synthetic, but the products from Il Profumo consist of purely natural ingredients! It’s simply this incredibly pure, clean laundry detergent freshness that conveys this impression, accompanied by green leaves and a gentle woodiness.

That would already be the end if there weren’t a little crown, a dot on the i, and thus also the connection to the headline.
Sniffed and confirmed by several victim noses: banana!

Not listed in the fragrance pyramid, possibly only created by the combination of the other ingredients, it is nonetheless there: a wonderful, creamy, light yellow banana note.
I was really relieved when others mentioned the banana, as I feared it only grew on my tree of imagination. But this banana note is indeed present and gives the fragrance its creamy touch.

Sillage and longevity are superb. I can perceive it all day long.

Freshly Showered + Creamed
I ordered a couple of samples from "Il Profvmo" in December. They arrived a few days ago. When I looked at my selection, I thought: Great, now you've ordered 3 summer scents in the middle of winter. Still, I'm too curious to wait until summer. So I started with "Fleur de Bambù." A fresh, creamy, and indeed delicately banana-scented cloud surrounds me, as if I just stepped out of the shower and had just applied cream, with the moisture from the shower still enveloping me. Right after that, I dove into housework: intense vacuuming that makes you sweat well despite the cold outside. The whole time, this lovely scent wafted around me, and the sweating was only half as bad. Further down, someone writes that FdB gives him/her so much energy. I can relate to that very well.

The sillage accompanies me for a few hours, rising up again and again. Gradually, FdB becomes warmer, losing a bit of its freshness. But that's definitely not a drawback. Because slowly I can perceive the flowers behind the cream. At some point, a light spiciness joins the cream and the flowers. I assume this is the ivy making its presence known.

In the meantime, I have categorized "Fleur de Bambù" as a year-round scent. I also enjoyed it very much during my dog walk in the cold. Furthermore, I consider it suitable for everyday wear. Only if I want to impress with something special in the evening would I choose a different scent. Which of course does not mean that you can't wear FdB in the evening.

I have to say: "Fleur de Bambù is currently making a strong case for the wishlist chair of "Musc Bleu"... Let's see. Next up are "Aria di Mare" and "Voile Blanche."

Addendum: I also like to spray on a scent at night. This happened last night with FdB. That was not such a good idea. It's too fresh for that, not cozy enough.

in love
only bought it after checking the ingredient list and fell in love immediately. a wonderfully pleasant fresh yet extraordinary scent.

not too floral but a bit greener. not completely green either, as bergamot is not present. the fragrance features more of the lotus flower and the water lily in the foreground, and thankfully, that remains.

I can't get enough of sniffing it, simply beautiful. suitable for anyone looking for something fresh for the summer, without citrus. always wearable, even for men. longevity for me is almost the whole day. lovely

Beautiful relaxing scent.
Bamboo, mint, poppy. Fresh, delicate, soft, like just showered. Almost ordered it, but it turned slightly musty =( what a pity.

Bright, lovely, delicate, floral, and I'm truly surrounded by the scent of green bananas. Vanilla/Patchouli hide away, I sense a hint of mint.

It's true, when you think of bananas, it suddenly smells like bananas. Fresh-clean-banana-sweet. I like it though.

A scent with jungle associations: green-cooling-floral, bamboo, freshness from light mint, all delicately creamy & unisex. Fine.

A dreamy green, fresh, and extraordinary scent. The ivy comes through well, I don't smell any banana. Divine in the heat.

Green banana. What a thing. A dream of a daytime fragrance. Performance is average but who cares, I can't stop spraying it.
