The Texture of Caramel Without All the Sugar
Il Profumo PATCHOULI NOIR is my first experience with this house, and I have to say that I am impressed. This composition is truly beautiful and remarkably well-balanced, avoiding all of the excesses that so often mar patchouli perfumes. Yes, the patchouli is detectable from start to finish. No, it is not overwhelming. Yes, the noir element is important. No, it does not drown out the patchouli.

There is a touch but only a touch of dirtiness here, and the golden, only slightly sweet drydown is simply a dream come true. I would describe the overall effect as similar to a smooth layer of very lightly sweetened caramel. It's as though the texture of caramel were captured but with only a fraction of the sugar.

I've had the pleasure of wearing PATCHOULI NOIR twice now, and I can honestly say that I love it!

My favourite patchouli
This is the patchouli I had wanted for ages! It manages to triumph over all other patchoulis because of its earthy, woody and "boozy" feel. An autumnal and very authentic patchouli, reminiscent of a walk in a deep Indian forest. Its sillage is unique, the overall impression is magic and unforgettable.

Divine Pathouli
I am testing Pathouli fragrances (Pathouli by Eusersdorff
Osmo Scents Patchouli Noir II Profvmu, Pathouli Leaves from Montale
Mazzalori Pathouli, Etro Pathouli eau de parfum).
The best so far I find Pathouli Noir from Profvmu. It is delicious genuine Pathouli but is also rich in caramel (at least that's how it smells for me). The combination is really delicious. As good second comes Pathouli Leaves from Montale. This is a little drier but also great. You smell the real Pathouli, but the vanilla makes it softer. Great for in winter with your loved one .....

Obscured by white musks
I confess that I bought a (secondhand) bottle of this only because the great Darvant on Basenotes always spoke so highly of it. What I liked about it: the mint, the dusting of dark cocoa over (unadvertised) spacey white musks, and the gentle spice of carnation or clove. What I didn’t like about it: the tendency of the mint and vanilla mixture to come tantalizingly close to the wonderful scent of mint chocolate chip gelato but never quite get there because the accord’s impact is immediately diffused into scads of fluffy white musk. Sigh. Cock-blocked by white musk once again.

The Sleep of Reason Begets Monsters
Yes, PN-Osmo is a dream. A dream that only its kind haunts.
For one must be a noticeable patchouli lover to enjoy this creation in all its facets. Otherwise, one fails even in the falling asleep phase at the ethereal sheep in front of the wooden mesh fence.
PN-Osmo Absolu is real patchouli wrapped in clear film, completely without frills, yet still with a lot of glamour and sparkle and bling-bling, generated entirely from its own strength.
PN-Osmo is straightforward, reserved, and skin-like. As if it belongs to you. It is a hint. A hint of shy, earthy nature. Back to the roots. Light sweetness, slightly floral decay. Beautiful melancholy, beautiful illusion.
A patchouli dream that grabs you and doesn’t let go. Incredibly close and incredibly far, incredibly pure and incredibly fine.

Gorgeous, sensual, unapologetic patchouli. Bright mint opening. Poppy curls gently around the patchouli heart. Lands softly in cacao and dry vanilla.

I remembered it being more intense before, but now it’s a wonderfully balanced, subtly floral and earthy dark patchouli scent: very fine!

A true delight for patchouli fans.
Earthy-Moist.
Emphasize, not musty!
Wood and cocoa make it a bit rounder.
Overall, very successful.

Noses in the mud, searching for truffles! Grimy, dirty patchouli with a woody touch and a very long sweet-chocolate finish. Delicious!

Patchouli just how I like it. Originally without much fuss. Reminds me of the early 80s. If it's too strong for HIM - you're too weak.

How does patchouli end up in cocoa? I wouldn't want to drink that. Otherwise, not bad.

Due to the impressive cellar-musty patchouli note, it's the perfect scent for tidying up the garage and shed in your free time...
