Warm Your Skin But Better Slightly Tropical Ylang
As this is virtually impossible to sample in the US right now I felt confident enough in the description to order it blind from Isabey (plus, they offer free international shipping!) No regrets. This is a warm, slightly sweet ylang-heavy summer dream. I probably over-spray, as sometimes I go slightly anosmic to it, but it wears relatively pretty close to the skin and is fairly over-sprayer guilt free.

It's fairly linear, I get around 6 hours on skin and can eek out a work day on clothes. It also reminds me of the dry down for A Chant of the Nymph, but without any of the tropical shampoo floral elements that one has.

If you're a fan of ylang I strongly recommend this, it's slightly sweaty, warm and a little sweet. Although not at all a sunscreen fragrance it's definitely a hug on the beach.

Just a Summer Love or More?
Unexpectedly often comes...

Avant et Après arrived as a Pafory scent package, and I honestly didn't expect much.
It made it onto my list due to its fragrance notes, which sounded quite nice, so I just sprayed it on while shopping...

Even the first breath of this fragrance feels like a sunbeam on the skin... a tropical-fruity Frangipani note, accompanied by a delicate lemony freesia, giving the scent a floral, slightly sparkling opening. There’s also a pleasant aquatic note, which I usually don't particularly like, but here it integrates perfectly. I feel like I'm in the Caribbean.

In line with this first impression, a bouquet of white flowers unfolds in the heart, but it is by no means intrusive. Ylang-Ylang, orange blossom, Arabian jasmine, and Monoi blend together like rich, oily sunscreen on the skin. This interplay radiates pure sunshine for me, exotic, tropical, sweet, yet still elegant, not overwhelming.
I’m already in a great mood while shopping...

In the base, the fragrance calms down, and a seductive warmth surrounds me. Vanilla envelops me subtly, while musk and benzoin underscore the sweetness. The vanilla remains pleasantly understated... an elegant, white floral summer sweetness that isn’t too loud or girlish.

Avant et Après was a truly positive surprise for me. Tropical-fruity, with a light floral heart and a beautiful, moderate sweetness in the base.
The creaminess of the Frangipani, the freshness of the freesias, and the exotic Monoi come together with delicate white flowers (jasmine, orange blossom, and ylang-ylang), a hint of marine freshness (iodine), and subtle, warm vanilla to create an elegant, creamy, sunny summer fragrance that immediately evokes thoughts of warm beaches without screaming for attention. The scent is modern and feminine, a gentle play between fruity-floral and powdery warmth.

I was instantly in love. Whether it remains a summer love or the feelings endure beyond the warm season will remain to be seen...

A Warm Floral
Avant et Apres by Isabey is a fragrance from the floral family, warm, creamy, I ordered the scent with my Pafory subscription. Released in 2022, the nose behind it is Marie Schnirer.
Radiant, a scent for bright days. The opening is green floral, I could swear I smell citrusy bergamot, after 1-2 minutes then warm, bright, and sweet floral. You can smell an opulent bouquet of white flowers. Monoi oil smells like a mix of coconut and Tiare and fits perfectly into the composition. Creamy and smooth, Ambroxan is supposed to bring in the fresh, mineral note, but I hardly smell it. Buttery, slightly tropical notes, sillage and longevity are top! The brand itself offers a sample set / discovery set with 6 fragrances. The vanilla here is balanced and subtle, the scent exudes classic French elegance. The bottle is beautiful, heavy, timeless, classic. Definitely a summer scent, but more floral than Eau de Soleil blanc. It slightly reminds me of Mornings in Milano by Birkholz. Or a cooler Terracotta by Guerlain, not so sunny and warm. No sunscreen vibes and therefore suitable for other seasons as well.
For me, not special enough to buy full size, but certainly interesting for a female fragrance collection.
About the brand:
Baron de Rothschild, a philanthropist and doctor, founded the Société Parisienne d’Essences Rares & de Parfums in 1924. The Isabey brand was born in Paris.
Not many fragrance brands can claim to have existed for 100 years.

Modern Classic
Isabey is a fragrance house that I truly associate with classic perfume artistry. French, elegant, high-quality. Fleur Nocturne was my first scent from the brand, and although it felt a bit too mature for me at 22, I already connected it with a very specific flair. Vintage, but not dusty. Elegant, but not aloof. Just a special gem among many modern creations. Timeless.

Avant et apres fits in wonderfully here. Although the theme seems a bit "younger" than many scents before it, it still manages to convey that special, melancholic vintage atmosphere.
Instead of sunscreen and piña colada, the scent progression remains densely floral, not drifting into pure vacation associations. It definitely conveys sunny, warm feelings - just not exclusively. An almost oily-sweet vanilla is underscored by a slightly salty, fresh note that adds a certain twist and gives the creation a somewhat modern character. Overall, the overall impression is very dense, sweet, and floral, without becoming too ladylike. The bottle is, of course, a poem - heavy, classic, timeless. For me personally, it's a truly beautiful summer scent, interpreted in a somewhat more classic way than, for example, "Soleil Blanc (Eau de Parfum) | Tom Ford."

Beautiful summery-tropical floral scent. White flowers already in a buttery stage, bordering on gourmand (coconut cream), salted. Still lovely.

For me, it's more of a nearly buttery white floral scent. It starts a bit greener, but quickly becomes creamier, warmer, drier, and slightly salty.

Tropical white flower without heaviness, a subtle cuddle scent to wrap yourself in. In the drydown, I mostly smell vanilla, but it's lovely.

Very beautiful floral scent: warm, soft, light, and with a pleasant sweetness. However, the slightly metallic (unnecessary) iodine note bothers me.
