Hard And Dusty Like Stone
For this creation, the Jaguar car manufacturer relied on the Karin Debreuil-Sereni nose, the master behind historic perfumes such as Gucci pour Homme II Eau de Toilette , Eau des Baux, and the more recent "Gentleman Givenchy Society | Givenchy". Motion, one of the flankers of the Classic Eau de Toilette, is an aromatic fougére with watery and crisp nuances. During its development, the scent releases ozonic, mineral and petrol-like accords. I like it. It is fresh and spicy, with pepper sprinkled throughout the opening and heart.
The opening has a light, refreshing blend of lemon and bergamot, but the citrus is toned down. A tinge of booziness lingers for a short while, so don't smell it right after spraying it. The tart lemon zest may dominate the luminous bergamot. Instead, a loud, green, herbaceous mint overwhelms the zestiness. Not a barbershop or chewing gum peppery mint, but a balmy and grassy thing. Aromatic and slightly metallic undertones exude from the underlying lavender flower. Soon follows the dominant leathery birch leaf that emulates a velvety and delicate suede and brings a leathery edge without being too raw or animalic. The bright mint note adds a refreshing finishing touch, creating an energizing boost. This sort of freshness lasts almost to the end.
At heart, Motion moves seamlessly into notes of black pepper, which help hide a seashore smell in the background common among watery families. Spicy coriander is hard to come by, perhaps overshadowed and tempered by the mineral and marine aromas arising from a full-fledged lavender and marine stuff. The perfumer's nose has perfectly dosed the marine notes, which are neither salty nor watery like a melon. Pepper and lavender support the major phase of the essence.
The light leathery skin and bitterness linger until dry when a dirty, earthy, musky takes the stage. Within this grimy concoction, I find neither the powdery orris root nor the creamy sandalwood, somewhat obscured by salty ambergris. I get the white musk mastering the final stage, not overtly powdery.
Motion fits perfectly on the warm spring and summer days. Both projection and longevity are moderate, which makes the scent safe for the office environment. Sporty? Yes, of course. Ultimately, a good fragrance that sits next to Echo Eau de Toilette, to mention a similar cologne.
