Arôme by Arthes Jeanne Arthes

I like this, when the top notes are gone. There is too much Peach and Tagetes to begin with, which makes the fragrance a bit over the top and not my kind. But then it loses the fruity notes and what reveals itself is a delicate Gaultier Classique dupe. It has a good projection and a fair longevity. I dare say that if you find GC a bit too overwhelming and loud, try Arôme by Arthes. It is definitely softer and way more calm and inoffensive. Does it make it good? Well, to some people’s taste. I cannot decide whether you prefer strong or moderate scents. I prefer GC. But no matter what: Arôme is a decent dupe in a nice bottle.

The fruity top note hardly comes through for me, but I can make out ginger, coriander, and cinnamon afterwards. In the base note, vanilla and cedar are dominant and "blend" into a warm, creamy, and slightly soapy, but in a nice way soapy, note that lingers for a long time. The sillage is exceptional, so it's better to use sparingly. One spray is more than enough! At least, that's what I think. This is a beautiful, intense fragrance that does not smell cheap at all, but it certainly isn't for everyone. Therefore, it's better to try it out before buying.

I bought this fragrance 12 years ago in the Czech Republic and was totally thrilled and still am. When I came back from vacation, I immediately started searching and found it at Kaufhof. Unfortunately, it's no longer available there, but I have found another source.
This fragrance is, as Bauemchen already writes, very fresh at the beginning, but then it becomes floral, really delicious and just perfect for snuggling in.
I have never been approached about a fragrance as often as I have been about this one, and everyone finds it wonderful or great. I will definitely buy it again.

I received the fragrance from my grandmother years ago. However, I was around 12 at the time and couldn't make much of such a knockout. My favorite was Ming Shu (EdT), and there were two sprays every morning, and that was that.

Arôme didn't fit in there. So we ended up giving it away back then, as no one really wanted to do anything with it.

Over time, my nose has developed; I am no longer at the level of a 12-year-old, and I discovered Parfumo. I have sniffed a lot, bought a lot, sold or given away a lot, and tried out various scents. I had this one experience: a closet full of drugstore fragrances between €5 and €12 and a friend in the hallway, whom I could still perceive when she was already gone. I asked her what fragrance she was wearing, and it was Classique - Eau de Toilette. However, as a student from Hohenlohe with a Swabian mentality, it was too expensive for me. So I looked for alternatives. Kindlooks was supposed to smell like Classique, a fragrance from Vebelle was supposed to do that, and one or the other supposedly had similarities and was discontinued or something else. No dupe could reach the class of Classique. At some point, I didn't care anymore, and I bought Classique. My first fragrance over €15, and I have not regretted it to this day. I have even changed in such a way that I think multiple times about what I actually want when making new purchases. Do I want to buy three fragrances in the lower price segment again, just to have three? Or is it more important to me to have a fragrance that lasts all day and of which I use little at once? In the end, it doesn't make much difference whether I spray Classique once, but Jeanne would need to be reapplied multiple times a day... So I prefer to go straight for Jean Paul Gaultier.

Arôme is, for me, an autumn/winter fragrance. It is actually rather present and belongs to the oriental family. I notice a distant kinship to Classique, but I wouldn't call it a dupe, twin, or anything like that. For me, they are related; Arôme has a significantly worse longevity on me, and I find that simply insufficient for an Eau de Parfum. If I (or my surroundings) want to perceive the fragrance all day, I have to reapply it multiple times, whether I like it or not. I bought a 100ml bottle, and I didn't have to dig too deep into my pockets for it; still, I think the purchase didn't have to happen because I have a much nicer fragrance from this family and don't want to rely on an ex-Rossmann fragrance anymore.
Actually, I didn't expect much. Arôme was my last attempt to seek a relationship with drugstore fragrances in the lower price segment again. I think I've outgrown that phase. I'm no longer a student, and I simply want different things around me. It doesn't have to be huge luxury or anything like that, but a nice fragrance is much better than ten mediocre ones without longevity.

Arôme is by no means bad. I find it hard to describe. It is floral, oriental, a bit vanilla-like, but just doesn't hit the mark. It doesn't change, it stays as it is for a while, and after three hours, it's practically gone again. I can't identify individual fragrance notes. It's a harmonious composition that would make an excellent fabric softener in the winter edition.

The bottle is beautifully designed; however, the spray head is not as fine as I would like, and if you don't press with enough force, you get a puddle instead of a mist.

I know the EdP and EdT of Classique and actually bought Arôme as a dupe. I feel differently about it. It doesn't come close, and maybe it doesn't want to. In any case, I'm fed up with dupes and twins for now.

In the end, I might still associate it with my grandmother and then think of that typical unpleasant, far too strong perfume scent that mixes with cigarette smoke. That was not a good combination. Even as a non-smoker, my grandmother never got the hang of it and always used too much heavy and sweet perfume. It may really not be about the fragrance that I don't want it anymore; it's more about the thoughts it evokes in me and the things it brings back that I want to forget. Scents can indeed trigger a lot in people...

I received this fragrance 8 years ago as a Christmas gift from my then-partner (now husband). The (large - about 100 ml) bottle broke, and for a long time, I couldn't remember the name of the perfume, only the bottle.
At some point, I ended up on "parfumo," saw Arome Absolu in the catalog, and wrote the story about the fragrance in the comments.
One of our fragrance lovers told me where to find it: ROSSMANN, and a few weeks ago, I got it there without testing it beforehand, because I already knew how it smelled: vanilla, I wrote in my first comment.

That's not entirely correct, because Arome Absolu smells completely different, and at 24 years old, I didn't know much about the fragrance notes, so I'm writing a new comment.

Arome Absolu is quite fresh and lightly fruity upon spraying. It then becomes very floral, and I don't perceive the spicy notes: ginger, cinnamon, coriander at all. For me, it remains floral and fresh, and Arome Absolu becomes slightly vanilla in the base.

I like to wear Arome Absolu casually in everyday life, and a few small spritzes are completely sufficient to smell fresh, floral-fruity for several hours.

My husband and I still like it a lot, and my friend also wanted to know what I smelled so "delicious" like after I had applied it shortly after buying it at home.

Back then, it was my winter companion, but today I wear it more in spring, as the daffodil is one of the typical harbingers of spring for me.
