Amore Mio Jeanne Arthes 2010 Eau de Parfum

This is a new favourite, especially for daytime. I swear fairies had something to do with creating this: it's so pretty and nice. It's fresh, sweet, feminine and playful. This fragrance is often compared to Nina by Nina Ricci, but this is lighter and more powdery and floral on me than Nina. The fruity and floral notes mixed with the marzipan/ almond take prominence while the other base notes keep it from being cloying. The sillage is average, but this lasted through an eight-hour shift on me. (I had a shower shortly after getting home, so it might last even longer.) The low price and cute bottle are bonuses.

Very nice copy of "Le paradis de Nina" by Nina Ricci. Fruity, sweet, girly. Good staying-power included! A real bargain, bought it yesterday at the price of 3 (three!) Euros in a local drugstore. Smelling pretty doesn't always mean having to spend loads of money.

Usually I am not a frag snob, and I find that low priced eau de perfumes can be just as great as higher end perfumes, and that not every high end frag is great just because of a great price tag. However, most fragrances from this company have disappointed me greatly and have been gifted to friends and colleagues, because they are so unpleasant for me. This I will use up, but once gone, I hope to remember never to consider any fragrance from this perfume house in my collection again, they are rather two dimensional in a world of so many three dimensional frags. Just not interesting and captivating enough. Would consider to swap.

Today has been a sad day. A day full of emotions, tears and unsaid words. Sentences that never reached the person they were meant for, and that will now have to stay unsaid, because the person they were meant for is no more. When a human decides to leave this world, even though the reasons may be understandable, the people left behind are in pain. In sorrow. And with loads of questions.
I have thought many times what would be appropriate to wear at a funeral. Luckily, I already decided some years ago, so I did not have to make such a choice this morning. Samsara EdT, the most beautiful and comforting scent ever made. And I need comfort at a funeral.
But today my review is for Amore Mio from Jeanne Arthes. Would it be suitable for a funeral? Probably not. It is a light hearted, fruity-floral fragrance with a nice mix of apple, black currant, pear and white blossoms. It lasts for less than five hours and it stays close to the skin. No one can be offended by this low key fragrance. Is it a classic? Not really. Would it be great at a funeral? Probably not. Too happy. Samsara is a better choice. But on any other occasion Amore Mio will do just fine.

Yes, this fragrance is indeed fruity, sweet, and somewhat gourmand -
and thus it completely aligns with the trend of the times, surely resembling quite a few other perfumes, and appealing to the taste of many people.

But I can still personally appreciate such a scent very much and enjoy it as something special.

Because:
I may not know which fragrance note it is, but as soon as I apply this perfume and my nose perceives it, I am immediately and utterly filled with a feeling of deepest satisfaction. :)
If I was previously nervous or excited about some daily trivialities, if I felt uncomfortable, or if something was bothering me -
these negative moods disappear in a nearly magical way when I catch a whiff of this scent on me! Believe it or not, it’s the truth.

I wonder if it’s the cherry note that brings me such lightness and comfort? Actually, I can’t quite pinpoint it in the scent profile.
Or could it be the delicate hint of almonds and marzipan that I found very appealing in the fragrance pyramid, but which I also cannot sniff out?

I cannot say.
It remains a phenomenon that I cannot delve into further, but which I gladly experience again and again because the scent simply makes me happy!

It doesn’t last long; after 4 to 5 hours, you can comfortably reapply, and it doesn’t have a very pronounced sillage.
I find both of these aspects positive, as a scent that lasts too long annoys me, and an overly expansive fragrance aura bothers those around me.

I also really like the bottle. It has the shape of a halved apple, the glass surface is matte, and as a little extra gimmick, a silver snake adorns the spray head. A very pretty design, I think, and that’s why the bottle has a place quite near the front of my perfume shelf.

Sure, there are many similar scents, and some of them are even in my collection.
For me, however, this one is special; it has that certain something for my nose (or my scent receptors or synapses...whatever).
Wonderful. I could wear it again... :)
