Mixture of too many scents
John Varvatos was not known to me for a long time, until it had slowly gained attention on YouTube. Described as "super unique" with a "mass appeal", the attraction was great to explore. I was now able to test some of the brand's fragrances in a shop and I don't find them particularly unique now. A mass taste, on the other hand, is well met I guess. Does this also consist of a mixture of well-known scents. A little Le Male here, a little Bruno Banani there and a pinch of a classic men's shaving lotion and there we have John Varvatos.
Admittedly, all this doesn't smell bad and most fragrances are wonderfully wearable and not at all obtrusive. The fresh start reminds me strongly of Le Male only softer and not quite as sweet. The synthetics of a drugstore fragrance is unfortunately also his own. I won't go into the notes, because I have to admit that I can't really smell a single one. I could swear that there is a hint of lavender in it, but I could be wrong. Well, as it progresses, JV gets a little woody, sweeter and the freshness fades
The shelf life and silage is absolutely underground and without frequent re-spraying is a perception of fellow men wishful thinking. At just under 35€ for 125ml, it is fortunately not an imposition to refill.
So if you want to give a fragrance as a gift, don't want to take any risks and have a small budget available, you can take a bold step here. For me, it will remain with the 5ml filling, which I will also not buy later, because it is not special enough for me to provide for supplies.
