B. Just B.
B by Bellodi. A logical title that I immediately thought of during my first olfactory test. This doesn’t need explaining, I think, as I appeal to your deductive skills. The title somehow reminds me of Gustave Flaubert, who is said to have considered a day successful if he had written just one new word. Anyway - to digress further - I first wore B during a sales challenge at the office, where the goal was to revive dormant candidates. I was motivated, as I wanted to buy a dinosaur fatsuit with the Amazon voucher. What I did to directly curb the overwhelming excitement.
In any case, I was wearing B, as I mentioned. A very multi-layered scent, a fragrance of contrasts. On one hand, the date is juicy and perceptibly sweet. On the other hand, it has a leathery scent. Rather fatty with a slight coffee note. Wrapped in subtle incense, ultimately hard to grasp so that B only reveals itself after several wears. At first, the scent struck me as somewhat strong and quite robust in terms of leather. However, the date significantly softens this effect. The juicy element gives the leather broader legs, and when the leather threatens to overflow after about 30 minutes, there is this fleshy sweetness that eliminates the harsh notes and keeps B overall moderate.
In the middle part, an oily-earthy, wet but not jungle-like oud pushes to the forefront, accompanied by bitter-musty earthy tones evoked by the patchouli. In a certain way, the effect of the oud thus becomes more multifaceted, appearing elongated. Of course, the woody notes are complemented by cedar, which, however, does not penetrate properly and does not enrich B. Only later does it become slightly balsamic, with amber enveloping all other ingredients, wrapping them like a cocoon. A surprising development that may not please everyone.
In conclusion, it should be noted that B - once deciphered - has been stripped of its coarse leather magic. From this point on, the leather appears broader, more pleasing, and somehow harmless. Of course, this is not a penetrating sweetness like in Ombre Leather, yet this element is present. I myself was out at this point. B is, despite everything, an elegant creation. It is a shame about the lack of consistency and coherence.
