I stick with the original
My first impressions are not that good.

I was hyper excited about this, and it's what probably made me feel disappointed.
The scent turned into a much more masculine direction, with an unexpected overdose of woodines that will make you remember Bois Farine or the more recent Il Etait Un Bois. I feel like they used the same core or one or more accords of it.

The first minute is 95% similar to the Original, but then it turns completely white woody. I don't smell any pepper, a very small touch of incense in the middle of its development, but then it's all about clean woods, like you're in a forest, with a very shy presence of a green and more pungenr neroli compared to the creamy and bright orange flower of the OG.

I feel like they boosted the performance quite a lot, but if you love the OG like i do, this might disappoint you. Not because it's bad, it's a very nice fragrance, but it smells different from the OG.
Might give it some other tries, trying to wear it as a stand alone / not a remix scent.

Reconciled
For years, I struggled with a neroli trauma, and as is often the case, the trigger lies in childhood. The culprit is quickly identified: my maternal grandmother. (Sorry, Grandma!) She was a strict woman who tolerated no frills and knew nothing of sophistication. However, two fragrances were always found on her dresser: Tosca (Winter!) and 4711 (Summer!). The latter, in particular, was considered a kind of panacea, and so it happened that I, as the firstborn granddaughter and thus the only potential victim, was occasionally sprinkled with it (for refreshment!). I hated it, but for diplomatic reasons (family peace!), I never told her. From then on, neroli was to remain a disruptive factor that spoiled many otherwise beautiful scents.

At least until recently.

L'Artisan Parfumeur has achieved with Histoire d'Orangers Extrême what many have failed to do before: I feel reconciled with neroli. That really means something, as this fragrance revolves - not surprisingly - around the duo of neroli and orange blossom. Yet these two main actors are excellently complemented by delicate incense and a bright musk. Additionally, I also perceive an amber note. An overall harmonious ensemble that fits well in a restrained dosage for (high) summer, but will certainly flatter on cooler autumn days as well.

Unfortunately, I cannot make a comparison to the non-extreme original version. However, I would recommend a test sniff to anyone who enjoys warm, sweet, and creamy fragrances with a subtle spiciness.

Longevity and sillage are simply fantastic, which is why I would advise everyone to use it in moderation.

Quite strong orange blossom in the opening but it quickly gets tamer and the woody notes come through. A nice light floral scent, overall
