Minimal masterpice
To me this is a minimalistic masterpiece by Giacobetti. It is a very linear trip between the opening of a mandarine - the ripe- to the heart of a mandarine - the juice -
Very last units left. I would strongly recommend you to get your own.

Sillage and longevity is almost non existing. The scent lasts the time it takes to eat a mandarine. Full circle.

An ode to the radiant personality of the mandarin
Mandarine is a vibrant and refreshing scent that captures the essence of the mandarin fruit. L'Artisan Parfumeur's original description of Mandarine provides the most fitting summary of the fragrance's inspiration. “The challenge for perfumer Olivia Giacobetti was to explore this fruit as it ripens, extracting from it three essences at different stages of maturity… green, yellow and ripe, Mandarine is strikingly tangy, zesty and sweet.”

The opening notes burst with a photorealistic tangy, fruity aroma, evoking the sensation of peeling a fresh mandarin. As the fragrance settles, a natural sweetness emerges, balanced by a subtle spicy warmth from ginger. Late into the drydown, Mandarine lingers on the skin with a soft, smooth cedarwood and only a hint of citrus, like the scent left on your hands after peeling the fruit itself.

Mandarine is an uplifting and joyful unisex scent, bringing warmth and energy to any day, whether it's a sunny summer afternoon or a cold winter morning.

Better go buy mandarins!
Ah, I love mandarins. But not because they are healthy (yes, yes, always eat some fruit) or because they keep my cat away from me, but because they taste good and smell particularly nice in perfumes. Here too, in the scent from L’Artisan, they smell great and above all natural, unfortunately, the scent hardly lasts...

The scent:
The scent doesn’t start off very citrusy with a still green and slightly unripe mandarin, which seems to have been stored with spices instead of in the fruit bowl, as there is a slight spicy note detectable, that of ginger. The good thing is that everything smells very natural and therefore real.
In the heart note, there is indeed a very light floral note discernible, however, a slightly sweeter mandarin is again the main note here. The spicy ginger from the top note seems to become a bit stronger as well, although it weakens a little in the base.
In the base, not much changes. Although orange is listed in the fragrance pyramid, it is weakly present and the scent blends with that of the mandarin, as the mandarin no longer smells sweeter or more pronounced, making them hardly distinguishable from each other. In the background, there is cedarwood present, but that’s about it.

The longevity and sillage:
The longevity is about as long as the time it takes to peel and eat a mandarin. Well, let’s say... three mandarins... but no more!
There is hardly any sillage, so the scent becomes practically skin-close immediately after spraying.

The bottle:
The bottle is, as always, the typical seven-sided little flask with the narrow label on which the name of the scent is printed. It comes with a golden, also seven-sided cap. Everything is done really well as always.

So, I had to test this scent because I really like mandarins as a fragrance note. Therefore, I was even more disappointed because this scent has almost no sillage to offer. Sure, the scent is nice, even quite beautiful (even though I felt that the spicy notes occasionally overshadow the mandarins), but it dissipates so quickly that you would actually be busy re-spraying the scent the whole time until the bottle is empty.

And that, especially with a brand like L’Artisan, which generally costs a bit more than other fragrances, is very unfortunate, so in my opinion, the purchase is hardly worth it, unless you are a hardcore mandarin fan and have no problem re-spraying the scent every half hour. I find that your fingers smell longer of this fruit after you have peeled it (and sometimes you have orange fingernails afterward, yuck...).
This scent is therefore unfortunately not suitable for going out.

However, I find it nice that the mandarin can be smelled as a whole, at least that’s how I felt. What I mean is that you can smell not only the flesh of the fruit but also the slightly bitter peel as well as the leaves a bit.

You can take a look at the scent; I would still recommend the scent from Hermès (Eau de Mandarine Ambrée). Even though that from Hermès is also not particularly strong, it still gives (in my opinion) an unmatched beautiful mandarin scent for at least two hours. But I am always open to further tips, especially mandarin unisex fragrances!

"MAMA, CAN I PLEASE HAVE A TREAT?!"
or: Baking Butter Cookies with Mom (Cookies = Biscuits) ;)

This is a delightful little fragrance! It really smells just like when my mother grates orange peel into the fresh dough for butter cookies during the Advent season, and thankfully, she still does it. That's why I simply have to love this scent! Or ... here comes another image ... butter cookies lying together with mandarins on a treat plate ... *melting away*

I really don't need to say much more about "Mandarine" - except:
This delicacy is definitely something for brave men as well. Unfortunately, it disappears almost as quickly as the delicious cookies. So one would always need to have a small bottle on hand to enjoy it longer ...

Gone!
It's a shame somehow, especially for me!

Today, on Monday 21/06/2021, I used the last sprays from the bottle.
In these summery high temperatures of recent years, this Eau de Toilette was an excellent refreshing option.

Maybe it had a flaw regarding longevity on my skin, but that might be due to my skin type. The fact was, after about 40 minutes, the scent was practically no longer present on me.
No matter, I just reapplied it from time to time!

On the positive side, the reactions from people who noticed this EdT in close proximity were generally very good.
“Oh, what a wonderful scent you have!” was the often-expressed reaction. It didn't matter whether in the elevator, on the plane, in the train, or tram, etc.

It makes me even sadder that I can no longer repurchase this special EdT because, after the sale of this French perfume brand to the Spanish perfume and fashion giant PUIG, the major assortment cleanup began. This also included the discontinuation of “Mandarine.”

Until now, I had no opportunity to test a fragrance from the “Histoire d'Orangers” line. But orange is not mandarin!

But … well, time will bring me something new!

The name says it all: Lots of natural, fruity mandarins, a hint of herbal green, delicate flowers + woods. Fresh + uncomplicated. Well done!
