My most beloved rose-oud combo

I am a coward, truth be told. Saw a lot of discussions on the forum here about strategies for not buying too many perfumes and for avoiding temptation, but my story's the other side of that argument. Because when I encountered 9 Arcana Rosa, I fell head-over-heels despite the fact that the longevity wasn't the greatest. It was such a breath-taking rose, with so much depth, like a full-bodied, slightly metallic wine aged in a fragrant oak barrel. I could see this fragrance flying at me straight out of time, from European palazzos with old tapestries and oil-paintings.

My heart ached for its beauty, but my reptilian brain kicked in, grabbed me by the wallet and put its foot down. At that time, the yen was still strong, L'Artisan Parfumeur was available pretty much everywhere in Asia, so I thought I'd wait, explore, see what else entices my nose. BIG mistake! When I realized how much I love Arcana, it was too late. L'Artisan Parfumeur had left Asia, it can no longer be purchased online in Japan, and the yen is in the toilet. So yeah, don't always wait if you find love at first sniff.

Trandafirul din Arcana Rosa, desi matur, poate fi purtat la orice vârsta, de o femeie elegantă, care emană confidentă si stie ce vrea de la viață, o femeie care este feminină dar fără a fi drăgălașă sau dulcică, o femeie de care te poți îndrăgosti, dar pe care o respecți in primul rand. Această femeie soarbe vin seara în palazzos cu picturi și tapiserii vechi pe pereți si cand o vezi, știi că aparține si stie numele pictorului care a creat acele minuni de care este înconjurată. Parfumul în sine miroase a un vin vechi si bun, cu acorduri metalice. Singura mea reținere este ca dispare destul de repede de pe pielea mea, dar pH-ul meu de obicei nu prea se înțelege cu trandafirii.

An alternative to Rose 31

This is a beautifully dark, incense-y rose with spices, dry woods, and a hint of smoke.

Many comparisons have been made between this and Le Labo’s Rose 31 and they’re indeed similar. Arcana Rosa is a more polished alternative, with the woods here (more sandalwood than cedar) being less screechy, the vetiver less scratchy, and overall has a more velvety feel.

The Lady with the Pug

She is a somewhat aging former beauty. In her youth, she also modeled and competed with Twiggy, after all, they were born in the same year (1949). But Twiggy was more of a photographic model, while our pug lady (let's call her Suzette) strutted down the catwalk in Paris. All of this was eons ago. She has been widowed for a long time. Her late husband was a big shot, which also explains her well-off circumstances. She has 2 daughters, whom she claims look like Brigitte Bardot and Romy Schneider. The latter has been six feet under for quite some time now, and I believe she wouldn't be very pleased with that comparison. Her loyal companion is the aforementioned pug named Merguez (Sausage), and the dog cannot deny a certain resemblance. I myself am not necessarily a fan of pugs. I mean the dogs, dear readers. But they can't help it.
Our Suzette regularly meets with 3 friends at a café near the Eiffel Tower. All the same age, all with their dogs. There’s Nadine with her miniature pinscher, Adele with an indefinable creature that always clings to her handbag, and Claudette - lanky and tall - with her Saluki (sighthound, 70 cm shoulder height) who often races with her and usually wins, Claudette.
Today there’s yet another discussion about Suzette's fondness for perfume and her almost fanatical love for roses.
Nadine: “Say, Suzette, have you marinated all your underwear in rose water again?”
Suzette: “No, that’s my new perfume!” She waves her arms, fans herself with her little Chanel blouse, and jingles her pearl necklace. Clouds of Arcana drift across the table.
Adele: “It smells like the perfumer distilled the stems and thorns too. You do know that real pearls and perfume don’t mix, right?”
Claudette, always very sarcastic: “Yes, and he probably had a wooden leg and a toupee that he glued on with resin.”
Suzette pouts. She is in rose heaven. They have no idea, those old bags, especially Nadine, that matron. She recently dropped her clingy rat into the crème brûlée.
Offended, she flounces away, trailing a flag of spiced roses behind her.
For rose fans, this is certainly a treat. It scents every room, as the sillage and longevity are remarkable, or you can feel like Sleeping Beauty.

A clove rose done delicately; where the sharp clove note ends the velvet petal of rose begins and carries you through the scent. Beautiful

Light sweet-creamy rose scent with green hints. Good and actually pleasant, but it's too loud. Unfortunately, I've already smelled it a thousand times.
