It’s fall babey

Fruity, jammy and slightly indolic like the actual Osmanthus flower, boosted with additional sweetness. The dried apricot aspects of the flower become more and more apparent as it dries down. Probably the best straightforward osmanthus scent (no tea) for the price point that’s still easily accessible outside of Asia.nnOsmanthus is insanely popular as a flavoring in tea and desserts in East Asia and strongly associated with mid-Autumn festival, making this perfect for fall despite being airy and floral. It leans gourmand to me but this is almost 100% because of my personal memories of osmanthus as a food flavoring.nnI wish this had stronger performance because the actual flower bushes PROJECT but it lasts well on hair/fabric. The lotion and hand cream smell nothing like either the EDT or the flower so don’t bother layering with them.

Floral-Fresh Scent

In recent months, I have developed an interest in osmanthus fragrances and was on the lookout for a good perfume. I became particularly aware of the Chinese brand "To Summer," as it is said to have released a beautiful osmanthus scent according to numerous reviews. Unfortunately, there is no way to purchase this fragrance outside of Asia, and since there is not much of a selection for this floral scent here in Europe, I had to look for an alternative.

Osmanthus by L'Occitane is a light floral fragrance that is perfect for everyday wear.
Since I do not know how the osmanthus flower smells, I cannot judge whether this note is perceivable.
For me, it is a cheerful-fresh scent that is definitely intended for flower lovers.
It smells like an afternoon in spring, fresh out of the shower.

Love at the Second Spray

Osmanthus by Loccitane initially disappointed me with the first spray. Although I had no idea what Osmanthus actually smells like, I had different expectations based on the image of the flower.

And then there’s the labeling of the bottle… the inner monk feels a bit queasy at the division of the word Osmanthus…
Please Loccitane, never do this to a fragrance again.

So it was banished. All the way to the back of the perfume cabinet, its new home. Outsourced to the dimension of forgetfulness.

Then came a Sunday morning when I enthusiastically reorganized the perfume cabinet. Hmmm, what’s that back there? Opened the packaging, oh yes, the dreadful labeling… but I had to spray it one more time. So a few sprays on my shirt and wrist and continued sorting.

And that’s when it really got me. A bit fruity at first, but just a hint. Not enough to really describe it as fruity. A breeze of freshness and floral notes. Beautifully intertwined and not too overpowering. Perfect for any spring day. Its new role: to be worn for weeks.

When it comes to H/S, two letters suffice: OK.
