Dark velvet and chandeliers in Parisian opera
Oud Laque by Les Bains Guerbois makes me vision a dim baroque era opera house draped in dark red velvet. The air is filled with powerful old-world perfumes, incense smoke seeps in from somewhere, and the crystal chandeliers wink conspiratorially. Very Parisian!
The oud doesn’t roar here animalistically like a lion – it purrs, polished and lacquered, in keeping with the traditions of French perfumery. Around it swirls a warm resinous sweetness (dried fruits!). A deep, intelligent layering unfolds step by step.
