Roses in the wilderness
It's pretty hard for me to find much to fault in most of the Parfums de Rosine rose perfumes, and ROSA FLAMENCA is no exception to the rule. This creation has the somewhat home-grown feeling which I have come to associate with the perfumes of this house, while still smelling very natural and appealing. I never find the Rosine creations to be slick and polished perfumes, but I nearly always find them likeable precisely because they are so straightforward and down to earth. This is a feeling which I tend to have about the perfumes of Annick Goutal as well, but I find that in the case of Les Parfums de Rosine, the perfumes are just a notch less sophisticated and more rough-hewn.

Still, they are good, and ROSA FLAMENCA offers roses ensconced among several other flowers, grass blades and some wood, although I would not have identified the latter as having derived from a fig tree. I also do not find orange blossom to be dominant, as others have reported. To me, ROSA FLAMENCA is more like a bouquet of wildflowers into which a few long-stemmed red roses have been inserted. The rose scent is stronger than that of any of the multi-colored flowers which surround it, but they are important as the chorus to the rose diva.

I was expecting something spicy--red and flaming--but instead I have found in ROSA FLAMENCA a rather pastoral scene. I actually thought that there was a touch of oakmoss in this composition, but it is not listed among the notes. There is a slight dirtiness here, but it is very light, rather like the soil still clinging to the roots of a bunch of wildflowers plucked to form a makeshift bouquet. At the same time, I also find a touch of good old-fashioned soap in the drydown.

This one has some pepper under the H.....n! Olé!
Unpacked, sprayed on, and... what is this?! You should have seen my face! Pure surprise!

I must say that the term Flamenca has nothing to do with the dance Flamenco, as one might think. Spaniards refer to something sharp, spicy as "Flamenca." For example, "Huevos a la Flamenca" - fried eggs on a bed of tomato and chili, seasoned only with salt. Spicy and very delicious. But I digress.

You can probably guess where I'm going with this. Rosa Flamenca is sharp, sharp, and sexy!

The opening begins with a fresh, green, only slightly rosy chili note. I've never smelled anything like this in a perfume before and I'm blown away. I kept sniffing my wrist yesterday and I'm doing it again today during my second test. Only after 20 - 30 minutes does the rose slowly come into play. First in a very attractive and spicy blend with the chili, then slowly on its own, supported by jasmine and neroli, maybe also honeysuckle, although I don't perceive it, which also adds a little sweetness.

The scent shimmers and radiates, the sillage is great, and I enjoy this unusual but incredibly wonderful fragrance. What a brilliant idea.

When I read the pyramid, I expected something completely different. More of a sweet, flowery scent and I had some concerns. That's why I only bought a 50ml bottle. I'm afraid it will be empty very quickly...

The drydown is then beautiful, very soft and genuine. The pure dark red rose in all its glory with its slightly sweet but very elegant scent, supported by sandalwood and white musk. The fig leaf adds just a tiny bit of green at best. The top note mentioned in the pyramid also surprises me, as the impression that Rosa Flamenca gives me in this phase is quite different.

This fragrance is a blast! Not a bomb, oh no, but an interesting, sexy, and sharp blend that knocks me off my feet. I never thought you could make something so refined from a rose.

Definitely try it out, both men and women, MUST!

Nivea Cream
I really like the scent of roses. Especially when it is incorporated into an interesting fragrance concept. LpdR always surprises me anew with the potential contained in this note. However, this time I was a bit disappointed! In this perfume, I couldn't perceive any rose on my skin.

The top note has a subtle freshness, but the skin cream touch is immediately present.

This cream character then develops stronger and only increases in softness from the heart to the base note.

I can't help it, this perfume reminds me of the classic Nivea cream! While I do like the scent, I don't want it as a perfume!
What a shame!

My thanks to dear Florblanca for the decant.

No One Should Gift Me Roses
As a pronounced opponent of roses and rosy scents, I was nonetheless tempted by Ergoproxy to try this fragrance. I simply have to test a cream scent, rose or not.

I admit, the similarity to Nivea is present. But there is also the rose...
So a rosy Nivea cream.
The rose here is fresh and young, even a bit zesty. Unfortunately, it remains a rose, and apart from its pretty appearance, I can't find much to appreciate.

But I concede, it is a nice scent, nice, nothing more. A bit fruity, a bit floral, and a lot of rose.

As a cream scent, I cannot consider it, as the freshness lasts too long.

In the heart note, the scent of the rose intensifies, it dominates, even though you can sense the other flowers. The overall scent also becomes stronger with a good sillage. I can easily imagine this scent on young women and in summer. There is also a bit of powderiness present.
For rose lovers, it is a beautiful scent, but unfortunately, I can't find much to appreciate.

Love at Second Sniff
Just under 2 hours ago, I would have classified this scent as outdated and "grandma fragrance." At that time, I had only sprayed it on a test strip.
Since I didn't want to simply throw away the sample, I gave it another chance and sprayed it on my hand.
At first, it smells slightly fresh and a bit "bitter," but after about 2 hours, I am thrilled. It has developed into a very beautiful fragrance that reminds me a lot of expensive luxury cosmetics and gives one an elegant and well-groomed feeling.
The sandalwood and musk are now clearly noticeable.
Once again, a great scent, unobtrusive, floral, slightly powdery, and close to the skin.

Beautiful perfume, Flamenca? Rose? Otherwise: Creamy-citrusy-cologne + linden-coumarin-resinous, lovely floral mix + shy rose.

Suffocated rose under fermented orange peel and rotten musk. A failed creation!

Unfortunate blend of unpleasant, slightly sharp neroli without rose, musty raw spice, and a soapy note. Takes some getting used to.
