Rose Kashmirie Les Parfums de Rosine 2007 Eau de Parfum

My first reaction upon spraying this was "mm just like a sweater!" It opens quite powdery, followed by a chorus of pink roses, making it sweet-smelling, almost fruity. There's also a whiff of myrrh and saffron, but in the early stages, it sits much closer to the skin.

Rose Kashmirie then makes a slow transition into a creamy, spiced-up pink rose, all while retaining that powdery feeling. A resinous feel crops up along the way accompanied by a rich vanilla. 1.5 hours in, and this is a full-blown oriental rose. Vetiver lends some body to this sweet-spicy powdered rose. It never becomes too sweet or too spicy - remaining always light and carefree, but with a touch of mature femininity.

PdR Rose Kashmirie is a beautiful jammy powdery rose in a bed of spices. Quite oriental and bold with some depth, but inoffensive. It's sensual, juicy, and very feminine, but interestingly, I find this easy to wear. Definitely a crowd-pleaser.

This one sits comfortably close to the skin, so it almost seems like it is projecting from within the wearer. Longevity on me wasn't too good - it only lasted around 3 hours on my skin.

I wasn't really expecting to like Les Parfums de Rosine ROSE KASHMIRIE, as its name reminded me of the spice-cabinet perfumes I've tried in the past and never really fallen for. As predicted, I find ROSE KASHMIRIE to be wearable but not compelling, a somewhat uninspired perfume with lots of spices and rose mixed together in a rather haphazard way, composed perhaps with the enthusiasm of an obligatory homework assignment. You win some, you lose some.

The notes of ROSE KASHMIRIE are of the indisputably high quality I've come to expect from the house of Rosine, but I just don't find this particular composition that great. It seems a bit flat, overall. This is definitely more oriental than floral, with a dark, dense component—almost styrax-like—dominating the perfume. Although saffron numbers among the notes, it is not clearly detectable to me in this composition—nothing like CSP Sultan Safran or the AP saffron perfume.

ROSE KASHMIRIE is perfectly respectable, but it doesn't really compete with the many superlative contenders in the congested category of floriental perfumes, many of which unfurl in delectable layers throughout their development. There are literally dozens of oriental perfumes that I'd reach for before this.

Oh Seymour, do you even realize what you've done by sending me - of all people - those LPdRosine samples? You are to blame for my absolute (ABSOLUTE) need to have this treasure here. I THANK YOU for it.

Barely applied, a rose, oh what a gigantic mega bouquet of pink, almost fuchsia-colored garden roses fills the room with its extreme scent, paired with the beautiful aroma of saffron. This happens at a pace where bergamot and coriander have no chance to unfold, even though they are usually not so sulfurous.

The heart note further amplifies this rose presence. Anyone who knows these dark pink, almost fuchsia-colored garden roses knows what I’m talking about. Their scent is extremely strong, even in the bud, and when it opens, I can hardly take my nose away from the bouquet and practically inhale the fragrance.

Although I wouldn’t describe this rose as fresh - yes, it is even sweet, similar to La Rose by LPR, but lacks its elegance - it is a lively, dark pink being, very attractive and full of charm. I cannot agree that this rose is oriental or has an oriental touch, even though LPdRosine classifies it that way. At least not on my skin. I cannot perceive any spicy notes in that direction, as I usually know from orientals. The sweetness of the Kashmir rose is by no means sticky or overpowering. The other components, such as myrrh, amber, sandalwood, etc., take care of that.

The balance in the base is so perfect that the rose scent remains for a very long time, the sweetness diminishes over time, but not the glorious aroma of the rose. There’s also a slight woodiness, while the other base components do not stand out individually, but allow the rose to maintain its space until the end (and that can take a long time, as this rose has endurance).

I reapplied it when I went to bed and held my arm close to my nose to not miss anything. This rose brought a smile to my face, and I fell asleep with a beautiful feeling of having experienced something truly special.

I MUST have this rose and I’m already starting to look for where I can snag it at a good price.

Addendum 20.10.11: In the meantime, I’ve treated myself to this rose and even got a second bottle, as the first one is already half empty. I still don’t find this rose oriental, but very gourmand. I love this rose with a big cuddle factor!

II. Addendum, 12.11.11: This rose is quite certainly one of my favorite scents for autumn and winter. I’ve been wearing it all day today and it smells just like it did this morning. It doesn’t seem to want to give up at all. It really wraps me up and fits very well with this dreary season.

I had my colleague bring back a Barbie from India for a friend. When he asked me if it should be the lavishly equipped one or the simple one, I said that the simple one would be enough! I received it over the weekend and was horrified! THE SIMPLE ONE!!!!!
She wears a traditional Indian wedding outfit made of gold-brown brocade, tons of glittering jewelry, and has henna painting on her hands. When I asked if there was no simple Barbie anymore, the answer was: This is the simple one!

When I applied this fragrance, I had a comparable experience! I thought: a little rose! It can't possibly be that intense! A bit of rose with an oriental background can't really be such a bomb. I applied it and: Bam! I am a mega-monster rose and am enveloped by a stellar powdery cloud!

It seems they wanted a scent that could compete with the sillage bombs of other brands, and they succeeded here! The tiny drop on my forearm has an intensity as if I poured an entire bottle over my head!

Not much comes through from the fresh notes in the top. This perfume doesn't smell like rose, no, it is rose!

Despite all the intensity and longevity, you won't feel overwhelmed or get a headache. Really very well done!

The Kashmir rose is an opulent women's fragrance for truly grand occasions! During the day, a woman is rather olfactorily overdressed with it!
It fits perfectly with the Indian Wedding Barbie, of course! I wouldn't be surprised if it was included in the box with the lavishly equipped Barbie!

Anyone who loves rose and powder scents should definitely give this a try!

Whoever spread the rumor that roses are nice but can be a bit boring ("not another rose!") deserves to be chased through a lush, thorny, deep red rose bush in their underwear. Well, at least they should be sprayed from head to toe with a razor-sharp rose scent.

Which of the roses would be best suited for this? Ah, it's hard to say with roses, as almost all of them require a gun license. "Rose Kashmirie" would at least be one of the hottest options.

It is extremely "praline-like" (Florblanca would likely agree, as they call it "Gourmand-Rose"). Sweet, chocolate truffle-like, but not sugary. Let's think: of warm, delicious, well-measured sweetness!

Warm, yes warming (!) spices like cardamom and saffron give it an irresistible, palpable fire. I would like to add smooth fire! Without any bitterness, sharpness, or harshness. The amber triumphs over the sandalwood, allowing it to dance a gentle, smooth (I can't help it!) dance. Have I mentioned that this is a smooth rose?? Smooth as Latin jazz after midnight.

Since Florblanca has already described this delicious rose wonderfully, I have little left to do but thank them kindly and melt right off my chair.
