Disconcerting, but very 'more-ish' ...

I was recently introduced to the first 'honey' fragrance I have tried in a sample swap when a parfumo buddy sent me Lutens' Miel de Bois, which I enjoyed immensely.

I ordered a few fragrances from Technique Indiscrete blind about four months ago (which has been a nightmare of epic proportions best not discussed here!) and the box finally arrived. I ordered Indiscrète but received Délivre Moi instead. I'm completely over dealing with the ineptitude of the staff at TI so I'm not going to bother changing it ... instead, after trying it I am pleasantly surprised and a little disconcerted by this fragrance.
The opening of Eucalyptus and Aniseed is truly gag worthy but thankfully dissipates very fast and that's a blessing ... if it lasted more than the five minutes it does this would be a scrubber! For some reason it reminds me of wet towels left in the corner of a bathroom after swimming ... vaguely chlorinated.
Then a truly wonderful thing happens! The Honey here bursts forth like a hive exploding with activity in the sunrise! It's as if the bees have been collecting pollen from nearby acres of Jasmine flowers and bottling the essence themselves. Very difficult to describe, this fragrance retains a 'wet green-ness' while being warm and golden at the same time. Quite odd!!
When one talks of niche fragrances, I do find these days that one must further split that category into mainstream niche and 'true' niche. This creation by Libertin Louison must surely find itself in the latter category. Délivre Moi is not a fragrance to be worn willy nilly ... it deserves careful thought and the right occasion. Definitely reaction provoking my advice is to approach with caution ... or if you're like me, wild abandon :).

It seems as though the mixup with my order has been a happy mistake ... I'm quite enchanted with the dry down of Libetin Louison's Délivre Moi.

P H W O A R ...

... is the first thing that popped into my mind … in a good and surprised way I hasten to add!

This perfume is a sillage and projection bomb with tremendous lasting power. Reminiscent of the type of strength and headiness you find in Indian perfume oils and incense.
Compared to what’s on the market today, this is quite a different beast.

Very unusual, not for everyday use, and probably an acquired taste.
Honey + Eucalyptus.
What an unusual and striking combo.
Stroke of genius some will shout!
Headache inducing others will cry!

The result is akin to two polar worlds meeting, that of a sweet, soft, voluptuous and golden one, with the raw, herby, medicinal and almost culinary properties of the famous Australian bush.
In that sense, it could perfectly be unisex, but it takes a special someone to carry it well.

The loudness slowly decreases with time and it turns, after a couple of hours or so, into the most gorgeous spicy honey with an undertone reminiscent of bittersweet almond.

The journey to get there however is quite a sensory roller coaster so prepare yourself … you’ve been warned!

straw man perfume

I completely agree with both descriptions above: this perfume has some of the intensity of Indian oils and some of wet wipes.
But let's go by steps. At the first moment is very bitter, herbal and sweaty as if the straw man had been jogging. But from the moment it touches the skin, the perfume transforms very very fast.
As if you were approaching a beehive in the middle of a field of wild herbs, the sweetness of honey predominates in the composition as time progresses. And in the end you reached the honeycomb, and while you smell the honey in that field you ate a handful of almonds that were still a little green.
It is a very rare perfume, that fascinates me

Honey Wax Monotony

Awful. I don't smell any spices. Where are they supposed to be? Anise and eucalyptus? Neither in the opening nor later is there any hint of them. I would never have guessed that they were supposed to be in there. Honey, yes. Sweet, terribly sweet is the scent. But not the kind of sweetness from candies or baked goods, but overwhelmingly sweet like honey candles. I don't even like the smell of honey candles. Some swear by it, but I have always found them unpleasant. So if you really enjoy that Christmas market honey candle scent, then Delivre Moi is the right place for you. All others: stay away. Beneath the honey wax scent, there is a hint of floral fragrance, but I can't identify it with any flower. And from the other listed notes, I can't perceive anything, no trace of wood or gourmand notes. The longevity is outstanding, which gives a whole new interpretation to the meaning of the name: Delivré moi - Free me! From this.

And there are still surprises!

My second choice (in the testing order) fell on Délivre Moi. This fragrance truly lives up to its name; it is indeed a redemption, a rescue from the deep swamp of today’s perfume market.

Right from the first sniff, I thought wow! Everything here is just perfect! A fresh top note, where I would never have guessed anise and eucalyptus, opens a series of wonderful olfactory hours. It has something fine, lovely, and gentle, yet is simultaneously powerful and fresh.

Maintaining the fine, lovely accord, Délivre Moi develops further, and a floral note shines that I have never encountered before! I guessed lily of the valley and jasmine, but the heliotrope combined with gardenia reminding me of lily of the valley surprises me greatly!

This accord is simply beautiful! I can't stop sniffing my wrist. The best part: the fragrance easily lasts 24 hours, through showers and various hand washes! It is weaker afterward, but still present! I am almost at a loss for words to describe the beauty of Délivre Moi.

The base further emphasizes the softness and loveliness of the scent. It doesn’t get sweeter, just a tiny bit woodier, drier. Throughout the entire duration, the sillage remains subtle, but is clearly noticeable in the vicinity of the wearer (yes guys, you can wear it too!).

Délivre Moi is, for me, a true revelation and has already landed on my wish list and will definitely be joining me in the foreseeable future!

Once again, I want to send a big THANK YOU to Hamburg for this wonderful redemption! Guys, that you allowed me to test these fragrances is simply wonderful. I promise, the samples will then go to Palonera (look forward to it, darling, they are something very special) ;-)
