Smells like pure smoke
When I blind bought this, it was my first purchase from Ensar Oud. They are very good at writing the marketing material and I was looking for something smoky.

What I got went above and beyond smoke. It was smoke in a fragrance. The closest associated thing I could think of that had a similar scent profile was an Arab sheesh called Jurak. I didn’t fancy this one to be honest. It cannot be worn in public.

Wear me if you can
A very dense perfume, capable of evoking dark colours; this is evident from the leathery note in the opening, linked to the presence of castoreum, to which is added in the following minutes the smoke feeling given by a blend of various ouds. The presence of some spices acts to keep the fragrance from becoming completely static. In the dry down, in addition to everything mentioned, I perceive a pleasant coffee note.

An opus not for everyone, which was not conceived to be liked, but to be matched with the right personality.

Smoked Bacon and Other Beautiful Perfumes
At the beginning of my perfume journey, when I was still wearing scents like Prada - l'homme, Versace - Dylan Blue, or YSL - La nuit de l'homme, I would have never thought that one day I would like fragrances that smell like smoked bacon. But as life goes, here I am a few years later writing a review about Aroha Kyako by Ensar.

Back then, when I was still pondering which fragrance might be the most versatile everyday scent, notes like oud or castoreum were completely foreign to me. How can someone want to smell like smoke? Yet the deeper I dove in, the more the world and fascination of what is possible opened up to me. Animalic, smoke, from cheesy to resinous to salty, various types of oud, musk, castoreum… what isn’t there? And after I had tested my way through various houses and fragrance directions, I suddenly found myself holding a sample of Aroha Kyaku.

Right after the first spray, an incredible smoky note opened up to me, immediately followed by… bacon?! At first, I was a bit surprised and couldn’t quite place my opinion on it. As it developed, notes of wood, leather, and a bit of spiciness joined in. Yet the smoke and bacon remain present the whole time.

Hmm, somehow… quite good.

Yes, indeed… it has something.

It’s actually quite beautiful!

…Wow!

And like with so many of Ensar's fragrances, “BAM!” It hits you. Even though smoke and bacon may not sound like a perfume at first, I can say that Aroha Kyaku is actually a very good one. For me, it’s not necessarily versatile and quite monotonous, yet this scent fascinates me. The many listed notes are hardly perceived as individual elements, except for the oud, castoreum, and a bit of tobacco. Everything fits together very well and harmonizes with each other.

A really beautifully crafted fragrance that can show interested individuals a completely different direction in the world of perfumes.

Bib the Brewmaster
Beaver lives alone on a volcanic island in the middle of the Pacific in a small rose lake. Last night there was a dangerous volcanic eruption; the hot lava flowed into the beaver castle and caused significant damage. So he had no choice but to reactivate the copper kettle. First, he needs to make a fire. Beaver searches in the oud forest for firewood and amber coal. Once he has everything, he ignites the wood with dry vetiver and pours solid tree resin into the kettle. The brew bubbles for half the day, and the resins spread over the entire island. In the meantime, Beaver enjoys a coffee and puffs on a cigar with a honey filter. Late in the evening, the tar is finally cooked, and Beaver seals the walls of his home in the cool minty incense night. The next morning, everything is sealed again, and Beaver can finally start to move in.

Wow, that's a completely black beaver
and the dark oud is wicked
etheric lamp oil from beaver fat
leathery, with extinguished amber wood coal. It smells as if someone
grilled a beaver ham hours ago. The singed fur scent is smoky, woody, with warm chamomile. The oak barrel is also nicely charred. The scent somehow lingers, very tobacco smoky, dark woody, a lot of coal, roses only at the end, but they burn like hot embers.
When all of this settles, it gets cozy.
The scent reminds me of The Holy Mountain and its ilk, something unpleasant from.
I believe I got it from Gurkenrick, thank you for that :)
And you were right.

Extremely dense but dynamic. Earthy, woody, tarry notes and tobacco-leather bits revolve around a smoked black tea

Bold creation. Smoky birch tar, followed by lapsang souchong tea, gradually evolves into dark oud with hints of vetiver and roasted coffee.

Is this Oud or birch tar? BBQ ham-smoked bacon smoke à la Hyde with leathery, woody & glue-balsamic sandalwood notes.*

Spicy smoke, refined with coffee, a light roasted note. Ouds are more like a foundation here. Marshy-green accents. Nice.

I hoped in vain to smell lotus, frangipani, and rose, but no... it's a dirty, animalistic smoke bomb! It starts...
