Tabac Original Mäurer & Wirtz Eau de Toilette

Dieser Duft ist nur was für echte Männer. Er ist sehr würzig, herb und hält sehr lange. Es ist ein sehr egoistischer Duft, da man ihn eigentlich nur für sich trägt. Frauen gefällt der Duft eher nicht, aber er ist perfekt für einen Männerabend in einer Kneipe. Der Duft ist sehr scharf, dadurch springt er einem direkt in die Nase. Man sollte es mit Tabac Original nicht übertreiben, da der Duft schnell zu dominant werden kann.

Most people will wonder why I hate my "signature scent" of all things. Quite simply, because it is not my signature scent!

Confusing, isn’t it? Actually not, but I will explain why that is, and especially with Tabac Original, it cannot be explained often enough!

First of all, I want to emphasize that I love Tabac Original and there is probably no other fragrance that I have used so excessively. However, only the After Shave and the EdC, and here we already have the problem!
The EdT only partially relates to the After Shave and the EdC, but so many people just do not want to understand that (apparently not even Parfumo itself). I can’t even count on two hands how many salespeople I have had to explain that the EdT smells different from the EdC and the After Shave, but nooooo, time and again I had to listen to the standard phrase "No, no! They are the same scents, only the EdT contains more fragrance oil!" No, no, and again no! Please dear salespeople, clean or train your noses to sniff out the difference. Or how many DM stores I have already discovered where the tester is the EdC, but they only sell the EdT. Annoying, I know, and I just had to vent my frustration about this.

Now to the scent itself. The EdT version of Tabac Original is not that bad at all, it just shouldn’t be called Tabac Original, because that is simply misleading for the customer who does not know that the EdT takes a slightly different direction than its brothers EdC and After Shave. The EdT version reminds me a bit of Paco Rabanne pour Homme, as it goes much more in the soapy and spicier direction, which is why it also has a distinct character in my opinion.

P.S. I too stepped into this trap at the beginning!

My mother brought this to my attention, because - and I can remember this too - my father (73) used the AS when I was little. The white bottle was in our bathroom and I sniffed it every day.
When I bought the EdT now and presented it to her, she felt transported back to the past, although - and I have to agree with my predecessors - the EdT smells SIGNIFICANTLY different from the EdC / the AS. Maybe I should show her the AS again, because it smells more like my father did back then.
However, I also prefer the EdT.
And my wife, my sister-in-law, and my daughter are also not very enthusiastic about the AS (the EdC was not available to me), it reminds all three of them of very old men from our acquaintance, some of whom are still alive and some who are no longer alive.
I personally must also say that the AS does not blow me away either, it is rather sweet, the EdT is significantly woodier, spicier, and especially more lemony in the top note.
I will occasionally stick with the EdT (e.g., in summer). Right, it actually needs to have a different name, because it is related to the other products but not identical.
Nevertheless, I have not yet found MY scent. So I still have to keep searching.
I will sort out/sell all other perfumes in my collection, because they cannot compete with the performance of TABAC ORIGINAL EdT!!!
It's just a pity that I didn't discover it earlier, then I could have spared myself many experiments (Sculpture, various Beckham EdTs).

I've actually already mentioned the most important points in the headline! And in the end, it really is true - it is already a legend, one that probably "almost" everyone has smelled at least once.

What characterizes the scent?

It is a real mix of many things, like the light freshness, the really beautifully crafted green spiciness with the woody notes; one could almost say there is a slight fougere touch here, but of course without lavender - basically a true "German legend" (made in Germany).

And the big reason to buy - the price!

Many people, back then as well as today, do not have the money or do not want to spend X amount of money on fragrances like Chanel, LV, MFK, Xerjoff, and co. and at the end of the day, that is completely okay + cool, everyone thinks and wants what they want!

The performance is, in my opinion, completely okay and really sufficient!

For little money - you really can't go wrong!

At 26 (almost 27), many look for hype and trendy fragrances, and I do that to some extent as well, but I want to divide my collection into several areas, and the classics are definitely part of that!

Tabac Original EDT by Mäurer & Wirtz definitely belongs in the classic category, and out of appreciation for the Rhineland family business, I am guaranteed the openness to buy and actively use this fragrance.
Moreover, I really like the timeless, noble, and stately porcelain bottle; it will always be a witness of its time and will remain emotionally relevant as a cultural asset.

The scent itself has a lovely freshness but also a depth to it, and a development that feels like the fragrance becomes warmer.
I find the longevity suitable for everyday use, and the sillage is also decent; it's not a monster, but it is a fragrance that gets noticed and has so far impressed.

For some older individuals, it's a journey back in time, while for the younger ones, it's largely a charming rediscovery for the future!

It will always remain in my collection!
