Delicious Fig
MEΘEXIS (Methexis) is not your typical green fig fragrance—this is fig transformed into a decadent dessert. With notes of fig, dried fruits, honey, cocoa, and cinnamon, it feels like indulging in a luxurious fig pudding or, more specifically, a fig-and-honey crème brûlée I once had.

The fig here is creamy and luscious, capturing the rich flesh rather than the green, leafy aspects of the fruit. The honey note deserves a special mention: where honey can sometimes come across as sharp or overly pungent, here it is smooth, voluptuous, and perfectly rounded, adding depth without overpowering. As it dries down, a subtle powderiness from the cocoa emerges. With the base notes of Benzoin and Amber enhancing it's warm, gourmand character without straying from the figgy heart.

Wearing MEΘEXIS brings back memories of that unforgettable crème brûlée, its caramelized top breaking to reveal a silky, fig-laden sweetness beneath it. It’s a fragrance so delectable it might just tempt you to take a bite out of yourself.

A sophisticated gourmand
MEΘEXIS is a stunning combination of fig, cocoa, honey and vanilla. Beautifully blended, easily unisex as it isn’t too sweet, and perfect for all year round. This is a light wearing fragrance, but it does create a nice scent bubble around you. I find myself catching alternating whiffs of cocoa and honeyed fig throughout the day. Very sophisticated, but comforting at the same time. This is a creamy warm fig scent, no greenness here. I’m not usually a fan of fig scents and while I would say it’s definitely the most dominant note, it’s so beautifully blended with the other notes that I really love it.

My last review...
...was actually over two years ago...and I really have neither the time nor the muse to sit down and write about it...but this one deserves a review from me. Most of you may not like fig scents, which I can't quite understand, but well...live and let live *laugh*...I on the other hand LOVE fig scents and I have sniffed through quite a few over the last years, but this one is the best of all...why? Because it has the most authentic fig I have ever smelled in a perfume.

Right from the first spray, you can smell the fig...green, fresh, light and spritzy (probably due to the blackcurrant)...but it doesn't stay that way...after a few minutes, cocoa and honey join in along with a hint of cinnamon...I know cocoa and cinnamon...I also know cinnamon with honey...but cocoa, honey, and cinnamon is a daring combo that is incredibly successful in this case. At this point, the scent also reminds me a bit of Sorriso by Profumum Roma. While Sorriso envelops you in its chocolate embrace and is a prime candidate for headaches, Methexis manages to keep the fig "green," while still sweet and powdery. After a while, I also pick up the cedar, which has been very well integrated, but just lets enough spiciness through that this scent truly remains unisex...if it were stronger, I would rather want to smell it on a man.

As it develops, in the drydown I perceive the musk, benzoin, and amber, always with the fig in the background, which carries a trail of bitter cocoa with it...

The scent doesn't have monster sillage but isn't a wallflower either...so just right for my taste...lasting power is easily eight hours, after which it becomes skin-close. Towards the end, I only smell the vanilla and amber on my skin with a bit of honey...

Seasonally, I see this for autumn and winter...hmm...I will try layering it with Sorriso on a really cold day, and if I survive the combo, I will report back to you *g*

Manos Gerakinis has awakened in me the desire to test even more of his fragrances...I will keep an eye on him...

Oh yes...here's a little fun fact about me...I love the smell of figs, but I don't like to eat them....*laugh*

the slightly different gourmand
After some tests through a wonderful sharing, this rather complex fragrance simply cannot be summed up in a single statement.
Fig and cocoa, along with berry, honey, and vanilla? Bring it on with the pyramid, and I was not disappointed, even though the fragrance has a slight catch for men.
The scent starts with a clear and somewhat sweet fig, quite authentic. Parallels became evident to "Alluring Fig | Theodoros Kalotinis," which overwhelmed me with its authenticity regarding the fig. This one does it much better, especially because it doesn't become overly cloyingly sweet.

As the fig recedes a bit, vanilla, wood, and the best for me: the cocoa dominate until the end. Its bitterness tempers the overall sweet character and makes it super pleasant from the heart note onward.

It then becomes less exciting in the base with vanilla and musk, but that doesn't matter because I rarely found a fragrance to be so rounded and pleasant.

Performance is really good, lasting 8-9 hours with a well-perceptible sillage that is not too dominant. My pillow still smells wonderfully lightly sweet from this fragrance after almost a week.

Now comes the catch: especially in the top notes, it is quite powdery and feminine, a powdery fig sweetened with honey, so to speak. As mentioned, it's very beautiful, but a bit too feminine for me. However, after half an hour to an hour, the scent shifts from a tendency towards feminine-unisex to purely unisex, and then it becomes really amazing for me as a man when the powderiness significantly decreases.

Testing is definitely worth it if you're looking for a different gourmand, fond of fig and sweeter notes, but don't want it to be terribly sticky sweet. Often, there is also a strong boozy note in such fragrances with rum, cognac, etc. This one comes without that and is therefore simply incredibly rounded.

Moreover, it's finally a gourmand that you can wear with a clear conscience not only below 10 degrees because it otherwise becomes super exhausting. I'm usually quite sensitive to that, but I didn't notice any problems at 20-25 degrees. Don't get me wrong, there are better options for summer and hot temperatures, but I also see this as very suitable for summer evenings and warmer spring days, as well as for dreary weather in November, so it's really quite universal.

It will never be the super macho scent, nor does it want to be.

MEΘEXIS - a lovely gourmand
MEΘEXIS, created by Manos Gerakinis and Chris Maurice. In my opinion, a true masterpiece!

I love the dark purple ripe figs from my own garden. Beautifully juicy, creamy fruity, and with a light pleasant honey note. I could just sit in them! I also love the scent of high-quality cocoa powder and honey. How wonderful the kitchen smells when I prepare chocolate myself!

MEΘEXIS combines all these delicious fragrance notes into a unique work of art.
Creamy, sweet, ripe fig merges with delicious cocoa and honey into a heavenly dessert, refined with vanilla, which, together with benzoin, amber, and vetiver, adds more complexity. The musk softens everything a bit.

I associate the wonderful scent with an indescribably delicious golden nectar, which is pleasantly noticeable for many hours and wraps around you like an elegant garment of warmth and security.

And again a fig scent, this time moderately sweetened with honey, a bit powdery, a bit creamy, with cocoa and amber in the base.
