Tranquility and Integrity

I’ve only found two-three other perfumes that instantly resonated with me. This is the latest one (and I think with the strongest connection). It just feels like this is the way I’m supposed to smell: sand and skin of the most ethereal kind.
It’s not a gourmand, but it is related to it. Not at all a sunscreen scent to me. If it is, it’s the sunscreen of the gods.
Nice dewy floral clean first hit. Crisp tropical feeling thereafter. Not surprising reading the top notes - matching both Lysylang nd Mahonial. Ylang, but not too fruity. Then a resinous wonderful sensual drydown. Labdanum with just a skin like leather touch. Benzoin tandems with the mature and dark sweetness of ”natural” vanilla but also adds a nice balsamic background.
In between a smidge of peppery cedar, lightly smoky amyris and herbal earthy patchouli. Sandel adds creaminess in the classic way.
Sand and skin is very on point.
It’s actually perfect. Contemplative. Calm. Inviting but with integrity. Goes both in the headscape of beach warmth and desert warmth. More of a desert island.
I’m imagining both an ambery mist as well as embers. Stays a long time, doesn’t overpower your surroundings. It’s actually my most complemented perfume, just within two weeks of buying it. Very rarely someone makes a comment, but this one garnishes praise by not being too loud or too sweet - but still has a strong presence.

I’ve never looked twice att Floraïku: the concept of the French appropriating the Japanese culture just felt…a bit cynical. But a seller promptly told me to try this one. And boy I’m glad he did. It is expensive (I found the 50 ml and travel set for 200 €) but both the packaging and bottle(s) are great. Not perfect - a bit plasticky - but great.
Bought the discovery set as well, but haven’t found anything else on the same level. But will keep an eye out for others from the brand.

Summarized: a perfect 10/10 for me. Only Amouages Myths Man and Liquides Imaginaires Fleuve Tendre rivals it in the top. Maybe Houbigants Ambre Des Abysses and Widians Sahara as well. But they are of a different kind. Oh! And Bvlgaris Kobraa of course. But I’m almost at if I only could keep one perfume, it would be this one.
Recommended? Absolutely! But try first. I’m guessing the perfect smell and excellent performance (smell it on me the next day) is a result of great compatibility with my skin

Packaging perfection, but the scent didn’t click with me
I have to give credit where it’s due: the packaging and presentation are absolutely stunning. The bottle design, the details, the whole aesthetic easily a 10/10. It looks luxurious and artistic, and it really stands out in a collection. Just having it on display feels special.

Sadly, the scent itself doesn’t work for me. On my skin, it gives off very old, vintage granny vibes. There’s also something that strongly reminds me of traditional Asian shops that familiar creamy, woody, slightly powdery smell that many of them seem to share. It’s nostalgic in a way, but not something I personally enjoy wearing.

In terms of smell, it opens soft and creamy with a floral touch, mainly from ylang-ylang, mixed with a smooth vanilla sweetness. As it develops, the sandalwood and amyris become more noticeable, giving it a warm, powdery, skin-like character. The drydown stays very gentle, slightly resinous and woody, with a calm, almost dusty softness.

I understand why many people find this comforting and elegant, but for me it leans too old-school. I’ll most likely keep it just for the beautiful bottle as part of my collection, but I don’t see myself reaching for it to wear.

A gorgeous object just not my kind of scent.

Tranquil sweetness of a pleasant summer day
The sweet and charming opening is enriched with more distinct and slightly rough notes, evoking the sensation of warm beach sand scattered with sun-baked seashells. These textured nuances gradually fade, giving way to the tranquil sweetness that captures the essence of a pleasant summer day. The sillage remains close to the skin, creating an intimate and understated presence.

Of Rays, Powdered Sugar, and Fluffy Sea Creatures
I once had a children's book that was about sea creatures. The special thing about this book was that many elements and animals had a "touchable" surface. There were fluffy fabrics, rough, smooth, soft, and grainy textiles. And then there was a material used for the ray. Incredibly velvety and delicate, paper-thin yet flexible. I have never touched these cartilaginous fish in my life, but if they truly have such wonderful skin by nature, I would be quite envious.

Sand and Skin. A scent as silky as the skin of a ray. Friends of rays, feel free to correct me if my association is off.

I smell... sweet, spicy skin. A very unusual spice that is so unique that I find it hard to draw a comparison. "Umami" can only be grasped once you have eaten or drunk something that, well - tastes like umami!

Aromatic, balsamic, and warm. A bit of salt and powder, really fine powder. So delicate that you can no longer recognize individual powder particles. Just dust, which only becomes visible when the sun shines on it.

Smooth and soft. Musk that is neither clean nor animalistic.

As a young girl, I was addicted to touching the "skin" of the ray.

Today, I am addicted to smelling Sand and Skin. However, on hot days, it is too dense for me.

Floraïku's creation: The umami ray dusted with salty powdered sugar.

Wicked Game
On the beach of love, dreams have been buried. Yet, painfully sweet memories of unfulfilled desire seek their way out. Grain by grain, they are distilled and intensified. Reaching the sultry air, they transform into dense-oily, sensually skin-like, deeply emotional, balsamic-resinous, smoky-creamy vanilla, ready to embrace. Alongside, there is salty, sea-kissed skin, slathered in luxurious sunscreen, with a hint of soft florals, as if a beautiful woman is gracefully stepping out of the sea, with slow yet assured and rounded movements. The sun shines on her wet, glistening body, accompanied by the waves. The sea is wild. Everything is in black and white, a glimpse into the past.
A fleeting touch, a lingering gaze could now break all chains. The highest physical desire, which almost hurts, has been longing to be satisfied for far too long.
Associating all of this, the music video of "Wicked Game - Chris Isaac" appears before my inner eye:
Sensual scenes, bittersweet disappointment, yearning, and much skin on skin at the beach.
This fragrance has something that I also noticed with Baccarat Rouge. It seems to stroll further and further in the nose, without a real rounded finish. Open, like a gaping wound of unfulfilled passion, it compels the wearer to inhale the scent again and again, savoring it. This impression seems to reflect the longing that the fragrance evokes in me. Sand and Skin is, for me, a snapshot of the lust-laden, magical tension, seconds before complete surrender.
A beautiful, memory-laden vanilla scent for dreaming.
Perhaps the fragrance can inspire one to dig up the buried longings from the sand?

Opens vanilla w/ creamy ylang-ylang. Hints of improved solar floral. Drydown shows sandalwood & mild ambers, decreasing blend quality.

I find it floral, probably because it reminds me of Hoya Lockii, imo the best smelling Hoya I grow. Unique woody floral vanilla.

Creamy sweet vanilla floral. Basic and inoffensive not-quite-gourmand. Price is unjustifiable.

Dusty, sweet, amber-colored, rather inoffensive and anonymous. Not for me

It also evokes the association of sun-warmed skin - on the amber-colored amber beach with very woody vanilla. Dreamy beautiful!

I don't recognize sand & skin here, but instead a wonderfully mature vanilla, subtly spicy & ambered, surrounded by resins & woods. Amazing!

Sun-warmed skin with tropical flowers. Smoky vanilla on resinous, amber sandalwood-musk cream. Soft + sensual. Soul balm.

The name is a bit confusing, but the scent is lovely. However, it's not a summer fragrance; it's a rich mix of dark vanilla, wood, and amber that feels very dense.

Oh sweet musky powdered sugar temptress of a scent that wraps me around its finger with warmth, vanilla, ylang, delicate spice, and resinous creaminess.
