Subtle and sophisticated apple pie
At first this seems like another wintery apple pie scent, and maybe it is, but it's an especially well-blended version that smells mouthwatering and delicious without being monotonously foody.
All the listed notes are at least slightly detactable. Tonka is the main star here, it's very powdery and smooth without any of the scratchiness that some other tonka fragrances can have. Due to the coumarin in tonka beans it smells a little cinnamon-like, which is always nice in combination with apple. This apple smells natural, more baked or cooked than freshly picked, thankfully without any traces of artificial green apple flavoring. A touch of rum adds life to the opening, so the scent smells like some kind of apple-infused booze at first, but it doesn't overstay its welcome.
Vanilla and balsamic notes make for a warm base. Together with the sweet, non-animalic honey it starts to smell like buttery honey wafers after a while.
My only criticism is that the pistachio is really subtle. I can detect a lovely nutty note, but I'm not sure if I would have guessed it was pistachio if I didn't know the notes.
Nevertheless this is really gorgeous for fall and winter. It's not an extremely strong scent, more daytime-appropriate, but I don't find it too soft either and it lasts perfectly fine on me. As there are already lots of very strong tonka/booze/fruit fragrances on the market, I actually appreciate that this won't knock anyone out.
I think it's easily unisex, but maybe a touch more feminine leaning. Men who prefer gourmands without any rough edges wouldn't raise any eyebrows wearing this though.
