The garden of love
I remember this from my time in high school. I had the original Le Jardin and several of my classmates wore d’Amour. It is slightly more floral and heavier than LJ and I think some considered it seductive and sensual. That is not the impression I get when I spray it now, since a lot has happened in the perfume world since ‘86. I get a girly vibe - very romantic and youthful. It is definitely a nice smell and it was very popular when it was released.
Longevity and sillage is not to talk about. It disappears within one to two hours and I suppose the wearer is the only one smelling it.
I like the bottle. Mine is the one with the flower decoration on the top - just like LJ but in black.

A true gem,
Dear Ola sent me this fragrance (the EdT) as a little extra.
I still have the "old" mini, with the flower on the cap, as seen in the video at the end.

It starts off delicately floral, with hints of bergamot, but only very subtle.
I can only smell the roses and lily of the valley when I hold my nose very close to my wrist. It has more of a skin scent, the sillage isn't really strong, which surprises me a bit, as the fragrances from the 80s were quite "punchy".

But no matter, there is something surprisingly woody in the middle of the development, probably cedar and sandalwood, really nice, as a little bit of vanilla comes in at the end.
I don't find it too sweet, but rather with a feminine touch.

Thus, the fragrance has something to offer for everyone. Fruity, woody, and vanillic. Isn't that nice?

Thank you dear Ola for this gem from your truly well-stocked fragrance cabinet!

A past secret love...
In the late 80s, I sniffed this fragrance in a store. I found it incredibly sweet back then! Initially too sweet. But it didn't let me go! It reminded me a bit of the long-evaporated mini rose perfume that my mother had given me as a child (see my comments on "White Rose" and "Elisabethan Rose"), which I have mourned all my life. Well, in the end, I did get the little bottle (visible in the photo on the right). But I only ever sniffed it at home and back then I didn't dare to wear this intensely sweet fragrance in public. O.k., I was still young and I was more concerned about what total strangers might think of me. Today, fortunately, I've become a bit more self-confident, following the motto: once the reputation is ruined...
The old bottle is tipping over, so I recently had to get a new one, the even smaller bottle with the red cap.
But...
First, this specimen is also not quite pristine anymore, and second: I don't find the fragrance so sweet today! It definitely has a spicy aspect. Oriental, but only minimal. The enthusiasm from back then is no longer there. Today, I know (also through Parfumo) so many other great rose fragrances that I only partially mourn this one.
But I should have had a bit more courage back then to wear it more!

Addendum 1 (17.11.15):
There apparently are 2 versions! I reordered the new version (matte bottle with red cap) - it is unspoiled, but more of a spicy rose fragrance! My old perfume (flat shiny bottle with a flower on the cap) shows an incredible sweetness after the tipping note has evaporated. I reordered this version yesterday in Canada (!)
More info to follow after delivery!

Addendum 2 (29.11.15):
The flat bottle from Canada has now been delivered. The flower pattern on the cap looks a bit different than on my old specimen. The fragrance seems a bit sweeter to me than the current version with the red cap, but it doesn't reach the sweetness of my first specimen. Apparently, there have been several changes in the composition over time.
Conclusion: the fragrance from back then is now apparently truly irretrievably in the past!
But with such statements, I'm not alone here...

Received as a bonus, very 80s, but fluffy.
It smells rosy, sandalwood-like, with a hint of bells, but not for long.
A fine oldie.

Much more interesting and diverse than Agent Provocateur. Reminds me of AP and Miss AP, more suitable for everyday wear, sexy lipstick rose.

Green, powdery chypre; clove, moss, soap, and powder - a rather classic composition; soft and soapy-powdery in the base.
