A Creamy Dreamy Floriental Musk
This was a favorite of mine in High School, selected at the time almost certainly for the cute unicorn bottle, but the scent was the real winner. Unlike other popular musks of the 70s/80s, Magical Musk was decidedly more complex -a deeply creamy oriental floral. Although the notes I found around the web do not list it, I sense a large dose of sandalwood. Perhaps this is the effect of myrrh with musk and amber? I’m not positive. It’s a base heavy concoction in the best possible way, powdery-creamy yet unsweet and almost dry. It’s associated with the classic Toujours Moi, though I really only find similarities in the vintage powder/amber aspect of the two. Toujours Moi is sweeter and less dense. Magical Musk is a deliciously warm, enveloping and comforting scent, well suited for fall but soft enough for year-round wear. Also not listed is gardenia, which I catch hints of. If this were available today, bottled by some niche fragrance house it would be flying off shelves.
Notes from online sources
Top: Neroli, Honeysuckle, Peach, Bergamot.
Mid: Jasmine, Rose, Lily of the Valley, Ylang-Ylang, Geranium.
Base: Amber, Cedarwood, Myrrh, Musk.
