Teens revisited
This is a scent from my early teens. I proudly put it on my shelf for makeup, jewelry and deodorants from Limara and Date. It made me feel so exclusive, so extravagant. So feminine. Even today when testing I can remember so many details about my life at that time: school, music, friends, clothes, hobbies, first loves. So many things which then felt so important. I even made a note in my diary about getting the perfume. I remember writing something about the smell being like a lot of flowers.
When I got older I thought of this as a rather plain scent and I started to wear louder scents, that seemed more mature. I considered Le Jardin a childish scent for pre-teens and it was not until a few years ago I stumbled across it again and decided to buy it. It was pretty nostalgic to meet it again. Today I get a lot more notes when smelling. I get the mint and the bergamot. I get the amber, the oak moss and the cedar. It is actually a very well composed scent.

Flower Powder from Times Past
At the end of the 80s, I acquired a small bottle. The version in a flat bottle with the flower on the cap - like in the pictures of Ginger. Not the newer version with the apricot or white cap. I emphasize this because I had painful experiences with various reformulations of "Jardin d'Amour" from the same series, which took away a lot of individuality from the fragrance.

I remembered LJ as a very floral, powdery, almost slightly soapy scent. Spring-like, a bit demure, with a "clean scent" image. Like many of the floral fragrances of that time. A repurchased vintage (though not 100% intact) confirms my scent memory.

I have to smile when I see the advertising photos with the then-young Jane Seymour! Recently, I saw her in the (video) film "Austenland," where she played quite an unsympathetic role. But she is still a beautiful woman. She has aged better than "Le Jardin"...

Le Jardin
Perhaps some may wonder where and how to obtain this unknown perfume in Germany.
As far as I have checked, it is now available through eBay or online perfume shops.
In any case, this scent is a little treasure. It smells wonderful
like the Garden of Eden.

I truly hope that through Parfumo at least some retailers will
take notice and offer this perfume in the German perfume mail order.

Le Jardin is fresh, wonderfully floral with particularly lily of the valley and roses,
peach notes and oak moss.
These dominate the scent, and the amber and musk support and enhance it even more.

A scent twin is "Indra" by Ulric de Varens.

I find the very bright, somewhat penetrating floral abundance with mint and fruits a bit overwhelming.
