Select Mercedes-Benz 2018

As we all know, this fragrance has similarities with Creed Aventus.
Same citrusy notes and same vibe. What you will find here it's not an Aventus that mature, that woody and that manly. You will find a somehow "younger" Aventus, more fruitier and less mature, more playful. This could be a much better alternative for younger fellows out there. It has a slightly vibe of bubble gum that you'll find in Invictus/Azzaro Wanted. But just a slight/hint of it. That's why I'm saying that it somehow seems a little "younger" as a smell and not as mature & well preserved as Aventus.
I am getting just a small trace of mint in the opening (first 10-15 minutes) and after that I can't detect it anymore. Pretty linear to me as well, it maintains that aventus-ish vibe till the end. I can say that I am enjoying it for casual days, being more airy & transparent but more fruity with that slight bubble gum feel to it. It's pretty nice to have, especially if you don't want to spend so much for Aventus and with the newer batches.. you know the drill.
Performance ? Decent, can't complain. But don't expect wonders. 5 maybe 6 hours with moderate sillage.
You can still smell it before that 1st hour and will die down easily as the time passes. I see this having potential for compliments being a fruitier & less sharp version of Aventus. I mean if Aventus got us compliments, why wouldn't this too ?
Far more important is your confidence level, attitude, mindset and so on.
Don't expect compliments when wearing the most powerful perfume while sitting alone in a corner.
This is good, I have many Aventus inspired fragrances and I don't regret having a new one. This is also cheap and for the money it surely is a decent fragrance. Give it a try !

Don't get me wrong. This is not a bad perfume by any means. As a matter of fact, it is extremely good and fresh. Freshly sprayed, it smells like the 20-mins dry-down of Aventus. Hence, if you are expecting this juice to be the same as Aventus but for 1/5th the price, don't buy it. It has almost no pineapple vibe that Aventus has. If I hadn't known Aventus existed, or haven't smelt it at all, then this would be awesome. However, since I have both, i definitely prefer the Aventus.

Projection is definitely average. It is nothing spectacular, and sometimes, if my father wears it, I can even barely smell it on him. It is very very light.

Durability is nowhere to be found. It doesn't last 4 hours. By the 4 hour mark, the fragrance is almost 100% gone. I would compare its durability and "staying power" to that of the original Armani Code by Giorgio Armani.

What must be said is that this perfume is a great buy, highlighted by the fact that it is relatively cheap.
However, sometimes, i feel like i smell like pure dust when the fragrance is 3hrs old. You know that dust smell that you get in your house if you haven't swept for some time? It can smell like that sometimes. It just does not use ingredients of extremely high quality, but not ones that are bad, either.

Would I buy this again? Yes.
Is it worth it? Absolutely.
Aventus or this? Aventus all day.

Today I was once again in the perfumery with the big D. Just to take a look. I discovered some new products, but nothing particularly special. I was about to leave when my gaze focused on Mercedes Benz Select. The tester without a cap strangely reminded me of the Bruno Banani bottles. I went over, sprayed it on, and... FLASH! "Huh??? No way???" shot through my mind immediately. "But this is..." ... silence... "Aventus"! I looked at the bottle in astonishment and no, it’s not Aventus but Mercedes Benz Select that I was holding in my hand. Extremely surprised, I went to the nearest saleswoman I could grab and told her my impression of MBS. "Yes, you’re right, it smells very similar to Aventus." I just nodded silently. "Do you happen to have the real Aventus here?" I wanted to know curiously. The saleswoman nodded, opened a drawer, and held out an Aventus tester to me. I checked the batch and the result showed 2017. Now I wanted to know: I took off my sweater, so I was just in a T-shirt on top (I kept my jeans and shoes on, didn’t need to take those off LOL) and sprayed three full pumps from the Aventus tester on my left forearm, the same dose of MBS on the right. After that, I smelled coffee beans to neutralize my nose. Now for the scent comparison: Aventus smelled quite fruity and clear and was very present, MBS too. The two are very, very similar, really! Okay, I thought, this doesn’t help, I need to wear both for longer to really be able to see a difference. One thing was certain though: I wanted to have the MBS! Price: 100ml, €79.95. Not bad, I thought. By the way, during the afternoon, I exchanged messages with a Parfumo here about Aventus. Among other things, we also talked about MBS, which was then identified as a dupe. The very nice Parfumo wrote to me that he had it and wanted to sell it. Well, you can guess the rest. I bought his 100ml bottle with 90ml of content for €30 :D

After my shopping tour in the city, I went to our local Greek restaurant to eat. And that was the opportunity to compare Aventus on my left with MBS on my right forearm. But it shouldn’t be me doing it, but women. Yes, women! And yes, there were women in the restaurant. So I went to three different ones in succession and asked each of them to help me clarify. All three agreed, and the adventure began. With the first, I let her smell the left first, with the second the right first, and the third could choose. She smelled the left first. And now comes the kicker: all three, independently of each other, confirmed to me that both scents are almost identical, but they preferred the scent on the right (MBS!!!). I couldn’t believe my ears! But it didn’t change the fact that the women’s noses decided that way. Very puzzled, I drank from my red wine glass at my table and compared myself. So: Aventus has a better depth in scent, is a bit more complex, but also weaker compared to MBS. The latter remains quite strong and fresh-fruity with a pineapple note even after hours. Surprisingly, I can even detect a smoky note. I am really confused. Either I’m just imagining all of this, or MBS is showing itself on my skin so much like Aventus that it’s almost too late! But can women’s noses lie? I don’t think so. All three made an honest and open impression. And I didn’t inform them beforehand about which scent was on which forearm. I think only those who seriously deal with batches of Aventus can really smell differences; for laypeople, MBS is simply Aventus and vice versa.

So, what should I say about this? Nothing! I take it as it is!
What is certain is that I, speaking for myself, am incredibly surprised by MBS and that this scent shows and develops almost identically to Aventus on my skin, from the first spray to well after hours. This doesn’t mean it has to be the same for everyone or will be. For me, at least, it is. For me, a super affordable alternative, since I also have an Aventus. Now I can generously share my "Aventus" aura with the public in the upcoming spring and summer. I’m looking forward to it :-)

It was six months ago. My roommate came into my room with 20 samples of a fragrance called Mercedes-Select, which he had received as a promotional gift, and gave me some because he was very enthusiastic about the Eau de Toilette.
So I tested the fragrance and immediately got a real "Woooooooowwww" flash. As a 20-year-old not-so-rich student, I had not discovered perfumes for myself until then, but I had been to Müller and co. a few times to sniff at individual ones. There, I was always quite disappointed because I mostly smelled only synthetic, heavy, and sweet scents like One Million, which I really didn't like...

But this Select from Mercedes was different. So fresh and especially fruity! This instantly lifts the mood! Personally, I really like the bergamot at the beginning, but I can also imagine that it might annoy those around me, partly because there is a resemblance to laundry detergent. Maybe also because I slightly oversprayed myself with it during a date xD

What impressed me the most about this fragrance is the transition into a very masculine, woody, and warm base note. At that point, I heard for the first time that there is something like a dry down in perfumes, or at least there should be. I know, I was dumb... :D

Overall, I would describe the fragrance as a total all-rounder: It fits every season (even if winter might not be optimal), can be worn by young and old, and is great for the office, as well as for leisure and evenings!

However, I did not decide to buy a bottle. The reason is that I did some small research here on Parfumo, was excited by all the comments and reviews, and found out that the fragrance is said to have a very strong similarity to Aventus. So I became a big fan of Aventus DNA without catching all the hype around the fragrance :)

Aventus is of course way too expensive for me, but I became aware of all the clones and ultimately decided on Insurrection Pure2, which I can also highly recommend. Unfortunately, I still have no idea how Aventus smells, but I think IP2 definitely smells very good (better than Select due to a rounder transition), is incredibly affordable, and has a significantly longer longevity than Select. The mediocre longevity and sillage are unfortunately the main reasons why I chose against Select, as it is only perceptible on my skin for 2-3 hours.

Interestingly, Select and IP2 smell relatively different to me, but are supposed to be clones of the same fragrance :D

Now IP2 has become my signature scent, I have found other favorites here on Parfumo (La nuit de l'homme, Ultramale, Sauvage, and Hawas, for example) and have become aware of the Souk. So it's great that my roommate came into the room with Select back then!! At some point, I will buy that one too.

I really like the Mercedes-Benz Select, as well as the Night Version. It smells fruity like pineapple, not particularly sweet, rather tart, and has this beautiful woody base note. It never comes off as overpowering and is perfect for everyday wear and the office. It is the ideal scent for the clean, well-groomed man in an equally well-groomed Mercedes. I often receive the compliment: "You smell so good!". Women also never ask what it is. In such situations, they seem to be more interested in other things ;-).

Since I generally consider a fragrance to be something very personal, I don’t like it when the scent projection is overwhelming. Because whether someone is present or not should be seen, but not necessarily smelled. However, when I get close, I want to perceive something pleasant. The sillage and longevity of Mercedes-Benz Select suit me very well, even though it is not a wallflower. The sillage is thus slightly better than average, and the longevity is more than sufficient for the day. It can happen that you might overapply it a bit.

I find it advantageous that a matching deodorant stick is offered. Whether it is a dupe of Creed Aventus or not doesn’t bother me. Currently, you can get the Mercedes-Benz Select for about EUR 30-45/100 ml. Given the high quality of the fragrance, this Eau de Toilette can be considered a bargain at this price.

Conclusion:
If you don’t drive a Mercedes, you should at least smell like one or at least consider the fragrance. At the price of this scent, you definitely can’t go wrong.
