a great scent in its class ;)
I am generally not averse to the fragrance brand Mexx, as some more refined perfume noses might be; Mexx Black actually counts among my favorite scents when it comes to a pleasant, everyday fragrance companion. I also find Mexx Woman and Mexx Man Summer 2011 to be extremely successful scents in their price segment. For a small amount of money, I get fragrances that I really enjoy wearing, that I like, and that make me feel comfortable. I can now also include Mexx Fresh Man in the list I sketched above.
Although I was somewhat confused by the fragrance notes described here on Parfumo (and presumably by the manufacturer) when comparing them to my personal impressions, this does not detract from my positive assessment. However, I find that the heart and top notes described here actually come into play in exactly the opposite order. After spraying, I first perceive a fresh, spicy, and slightly green scent, against which a fruity-citrusy note gradually pushes to the forefront. This passion fruit aroma remains consistent and dominant throughout the fragrance's progression and is nestled on a wonderful, slightly sweet and subtly smoky amber wood note.
Of course, one must make concessions in terms of sillage and longevity - after about three hours, hardly anything of the three sprays applied is noticeable. However, I believe that there is nothing to criticize regarding the pure quality of the fragrance itself. Additionally, I would like to mention that I do not think this is purely a men's fragrance. I would clearly classify it as a unisex scent, although this may not mean much coming from me, as I do not believe in categorizing fragrances by gender or at least do not adhere to these "boundaries."
All in all, Mexx Fresh Man is thus an extremely successful and pleasing fragrance that can never reach the class of higher-end perfumes and does not reveal an olfactory revolution, but it does not attempt to do so at all; rather, it impresses simply through its simple yet harmonious nature and thereby serves as further proof that Mexx knows how to establish itself as one of the few convincing and appealing brands in the low-price segment.
