Good evening, everyone!
Today, I’m going to talk about a fragrance, or rather a fragrance brand, that I have seen here so often but have never tried a single scent from: Carolina Herrera.
Herrera… hmm… that sounds almost like Hera. And I’m not referring to the wife (AND sister…) of Zeus.
I mean… oh, I shouldn’t say that… really shouldn’t… but since I’m currently watching the fourth season… *sigh* Alright, it sounds like Hera. And it reminds me of Hera Syndulla. A sweet Twi'lek from the Star Wars series "Rebels." And before you start complaining or even leave immediately (please stay here!!!), that I’m nerding out again and annoying you with Star Wars, just take a look at some pictures of Hera. She looks quite adorable!! Well, at least for a green alien! :DD
Alright, alright... back to the fragrance!
So… Gold Incense is my first scent from this brand. Incense means incense, in case you didn’t know, and yes, this scent is truly an incense fragrance, as the frankincense contained in it seems to get stronger by the minute, but in a really good way, because the scent smells wonderful! About as wonderful as the universe of Star Wars, am I right?? Yes, I knew it! :D
… you can tell that Christmas is approaching with each passing day. The closer we get to Christmas, the more nonsense I babble here, argh! He he he.
The scent:
The fragrance starts with cinnamon and cedar, a combination that might sound a bit strange but is still quite successful. The scent is thus both sweetly spicy and woody-herbaceous. The herbaceous note could also come from the angelica, which of course adds an extra sweetness. The frankincense seems to enlarge the already sweet-powdery scent cloud even more, and you can also smell the vanilla very well.
For a little while, it stays as it started, so you mainly smell vanilla, cinnamon, and cedar. As well as, of course, the frankincense, which becomes stronger. The scent is really sweet and airy, and very, very pleasant. Thematically, it fits especially well for the Christmas season and smells absolutely wonderful! It continues to smell so beautifully, but the cedar seems to become stronger now, as you can perceive its distinctive and herbaceous-woody scent more and more.
In the later base, the cedar is for me the strongest note. The sweet notes can also be smelled well, but they are more of a mix of individual sweet scents; I would say that here it smells most like vanilla mixed with cinnamon, giving the scent a slight spicy note (thanks to the cinnamon). Oh yes, and the frankincense is also quite intense for a long time. Hmm, in that sense, the scent has actually been like this since spraying; it’s not overly complex but smells very good.
The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is gigantic and room-filling at the beginning, and that’s with just two or three sprays. And even later, the intensity is quite strong, so the scent can be very well detected over a long period of time.
The longevity is very good; it lasted over fourteen hours on me, I think even longer, as I could still faintly smell it on my arm the next morning.
The bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical, with the cylindrical shape coming from many individual flat surfaces (and the bottle is technically a polygon). The bottom is thick and gilded. On the front, there is a cutout where the black label with a golden frame is embedded. The cap is also made up of many flat surfaces and is thus a polygon that appears cylindrical. Overall, the bottle looks quite solid and also looks good.
So, I really liked this scent. Cedarwood combined with frankincense and the sweet notes just smells good and beautifully autumnal and wintry. I think it’s great that it smells quite long with a fairly consistent (high) sillage, making it very pleasant to smell for a good while. It could be used in lower doses during the day, but I think it also works very nicely for going out.
Due to the slightly stronger cedar, I find the scent better suited for men than unisex, but of course, everyone can take a look at this scent; it would definitely be worth it, especially for those who like sweet and woody fragrances, possibly with a nice portion of resins added.
Hmm… I think I’ll wrap it up here today. Sorry if I annoyed you with Star Wars at the beginning again, but I’ll probably keep doing that, so you might as well get used to it :D
… and Star Wars Rebels is just a good series; I think it’s just as great as Star Wars Clone Wars (the series, I don’t mean the terrible movies,… yes, I also find some Star Wars films terribly bad AND boring!!!)… and okay, now I really will stop :D
He he he, so then, have a nice evening :)
