Legendary, but now unobtainable.
This smells like Papillon Salome aka indie Bal a Versailles with an acid Bubble Yum spooge tuberose and a sweaty-armpit-wearing-orange-blossom-deodorant accord. A slurry of Civettone bum rushes the scene with its cat-bum flavor Wintergreen Tiger Balm, and a pair of dirty drawers tossed to the corner in a fit of passion.

It's the breath of a trashy hook-up after that post-coital cigarette, a soapy lather with a hint of Frumunda cheese (good hygiene is a must!), hot ball flavored loaded hot balls, and a drunken stupor burying its face into a sable in an overstuffed closet. This is one of the more obscene creations, and I'd buy a full bottle if it wasn't so damn expensive.

Tender Darkness
My time is the night, my favorite bird is the black swan, my favorite animal is the black panther, and when it comes to gemstones, I love onyx. A new favorite fragrance could be Nuit Noire.
This perfume immediately creates a pitch-black mood for me. No, not melancholy, not sadness, not gloom, but rather like an endless starry sky in a place far away from the light pollution of cities. The glowing stars are caused by the ginger bursts that throw sparkling reflections as a contrast into the darkness. This makes the black even deeper and more impressive.
The scene is intensified by the sultry, lush heart, where jasmine and tuberose make their appearance. I think it’s the spicy notes like clove or cardamom that make Nuit Noire a heavy but not burdensome scent. Unlike many other intense and dark fragrances, I can very well imagine wearing it on a summer night. It is indeed sultry, but as Maharanij already describes, not cloying. In the base, a hint of incense also helps to balance it with its slight resinous quality. Soft and enveloping, yet despite all the lush ingredients, it is not sweet at all, and the mood this fragrance spreads is distinctly calm. The scent does not radiate warmth but reminds me of balmy nights that were far too beautiful to go to sleep.

Should it ever become impossible for me to find Parure anywhere, then I can reach for Nuit Noire on suitable occasions in the future.

The Shortness of Night
Dear Turandot,

the blackness of the night is not fully captured by Nuit Noire (new version) at first, rather it evokes twilight. The black swan slumbers, the black panther lies in wait.

The 'new' version is somewhat brighter at the beginning, a bit more sparkling, the abyss not quite as deep. The top notes seem somewhat muted. I was very curious, but at this point, I am neither disappointed nor surprised. I applied both fragrances simultaneously on my wrists.

In the base, I cannot detect any difference. The darkness has swallowed both fragrances. The scent, old as new, does not change anymore. The panther prepares to leap. The spices, jasmine, and the loud tuberose reveal themselves in their usual manner. He would also be a fitting companion on a summer night.

But then, unfortunately, the phase of disappointment does set in during the base. The night bids farewell after three hours, dawn breaks. It gets light. I did not expect this short longevity. The panther trudges away, having made no catch.

Even with a slightly altered top note, it would have been on par with the old version up to this point. But with this quick ending, it could not win my heart.
Thus, my curiosity is satisfied.

You can consider yourself lucky to own the old version of Nuit Noire.

Yours, Callas

Subtle Matte Shine - and the Difficulty of Describing the Scent
When I say I love - also - "old-fashioned" composed perfumes, I mean this divine little potion alongside "Bal a Versaille"! Mona di Oro is said to have been dedicated to Serge Lutens in admiration, one of the scattered promotional announcements at the launch stated. I am referring to the first version, which is said to be significantly weaker than the one released after the death of Mona di Orio; I do not know it.
Advertising is not necessary! This is a finely crafted perfume with presence, certainly a scent that does justice to the evening, but Serge-fearful ones need not panic. And those who still feel the need to cultivate their prejudices may be missing out on an experience.
It begins with ginger - it reminds me a bit of the beautiful "Nu" by YSL - and cardamom, a breathtaking blend. And then begins my difficulty in recognizing the scent notes. For me, it is primarily a Ylang-Ylang scent, even though the flower is not listed. And thoroughly so. Here, the ingredient list outsmarts me. Jasmine plays along, clove peeks out briefly, later amber - I feel a bit like a beginner at a symphony concert who cannot identify the instruments. Yet the scent music is so beautiful, harmonious, and yet very unique. There are interweavings and nuances, marblings and blending. And undoubtedly, there is an amber quality that is responsible for a very sensual orientation. It is not as dirty as in "Ambra Aurea," so to speak still in the teasing and not yet at the foreplay.
A quirky, almost cantankerous elegance, that is how I would label this exquisite scent. For me, it is not the glittering ball gown, but rather a subtler value like mélange cashmere or crinkle silk, as it has something ethereal about it. One of the most beautiful in my collection.

The Breath of Night
And when it slowly falls
The cloak of night

Then the blossoms of darkness open

Breathing deeply in sweet dreams
Of silky wood and gentle smoke

Then dark stars shine
Over spicy warm land

Mystically delicate shadows fall
Into the leathery whispering underbrush

Movement so smooth
Like a cat and on the hunt

Caressing, the night glides
Through the roots of transience

A moon of silvery shine
Sings the life
That blooms in nocturnal gardens

A silent scream
And it is night
Starry glimmer
Dark sweet blossoms
In spicy ecstasy
Transience dances
In delicate smoke

Shrill screams in the night, lost in a sea of flowers, beads of sweat glistening animalistically on the skin: typical Mona signature.
