A Beautifully Chic Perfume Made for MAJOR Metropolitan Areas
Not everyone will get this. Most folks will scratch their heads and pinch their noses confoundingly, wondering who on earth smells like that. But wear this in SoHo, Manhattan, for instance and right away, people will get it.

I say that because the primary job of this fragrance is not to smell good. This is not Bleu de Chanel, YSL Y, Sauvage, or Creed's Aventus for that matter. Those are made to "smell great". THIS, on the other hand, is a statement maker. This announces how avant garde one is. This let's everyone know that you aren't the status quo keeper and are fully "outside the box".

The NYC connection or the MAJOR metropolitan connection is: those are the places where droves of folks live outside the box and are avant garde and look to one up everyone with the "latest and greatest". So if you're a competent dresser (wearing this, you HAVE to look the part) and you apply this people will instantly get it and may even ask you what is it you're wearing so they
themselves can own it.

In a small town all i can imagine is everyone talking about how bad that guy in the store smelled.

Duro - Nasomatto
Medicine. Beautifully fragrant medicine of the cough-relieving kind. That is the initial impression I get from Duro. More so than the similar medicinal association attributed to YSL’s M7 (which, to my nose, is more of what they have in common than outright smell). This impression stays with me for about 2-3 hours before the real beauty of Duro begins to emerge, without much evolution however. There must be something in the oud and its interplay with what resins are in Duro, that give off the mineral-like medicinal accord. Duro is woody and at the same time leathery and, with ambient warmth, slightly animalic. At times I get accords similar to wood-smoke doused by a very light drizzle. This is one frag I really love.

Duro is the brute it is widely said to be. Its longevity is phenomenal (18-24 hours). Certainly, being extrait strength, a little goes a long way and needs to be applied with slight trepidation. I do not think the nose(s) behind Duro, or any Nasomatto for that matter, had mass appeal in mind when it was conceived, blended and bottled. It will only appeal to a niche of fragrance users. I feel privileged to belong to that niche.

This is one very good scent. Quirky, but good.

Identical to Aoud Musk
After getting a sample of Duro, I immediately recognized it as being identical to Montale's Aoud Musk.

Aoud Musk is one of my favorite fragrances, therefore, so is Duro! I'll call it a win but I'll also say there is no reason to spend $185 on a 30 ml of Duro, when you can spend $160 and get 100 ml of Aoud Musk.

Nasomatto Duro: A Bold Statement of Masculine Elegance

Duro by Nasomatto is a fragrance that commands attention, embodying strength, virility, and determination. As an Extrait de Parfum, its concentration lends itself to exceptional performance, but it truly shines when paired with the right conditions—heat being its greatest ally. My experience with Duro has revealed its nuanced complexity and outstanding sillage and longevity, making it a staple for those who embrace unapologetic masculinity.

Performance: Sillage and Longevity
Duro’s performance is nothing short of remarkable. During colder months, its projection remains moderate for about an hour before settling closer to the skin. However, in warmer weather, this fragrance transforms dramatically. The heat amplifies its diffusive properties, creating an impressive sillage that lasts almost all day. Whether worn casually or for formal occasions, Duro ensures you leave a lasting impression.

Longevity is another triumph for this scent. On my skin, Duro consistently lasts over 12 hours, evolving gracefully throughout its lifespan. This endurance speaks to the quality of its composition and concentration. Even as it transitions into a warm skin scent after several hours, it retains its character and allure.

Nuanced Masculinity
Duro’s scent profile is unapologetically masculine—a bold blend of woods, leather, spices, and subtle booziness. Its opening is warm and slightly sweet, introducing patchouli and hints of smoky bitterness. As it develops, the leather becomes more prominent, supported by oud and abstract woody notes that exude rugged sophistication. The dry-down is a harmonious blend of ambered warmth and earthy patchouli with whispers of vanilla-like sweetness.

This fragrance thrives on contrasts: it is both aggressive yet refined, bold yet nuanced. It evokes images of power and confidence—perfect for someone dressed sharply in a suit or commanding attention in any setting.

Seasonal Versatility
While Duro can be worn year-round, it truly excels in summer’s heat. The warmth enhances its projection and allows the fragrance to bloom beautifully on the skin. For cooler seasons or indoor settings, its moderate projection makes it suitable without overwhelming those around you.

Final Thoughts
Nasomatto Duro is not just a fragrance; it’s a statement piece—a reflection of masculinity at its most confident and elegant. Its exceptional performance in terms of sillage and longevity ensures it stands out among other Extrait de Parfums. If you’re seeking a scent that embodies strength while offering nuanced complexity, Duro deserves your attention.

first impression
Duro has been in my wish list for a while now and I finally pulled the trigger. I unboxed it less than an hour ago and sprayed on my wrist so these are my first thoughts and not an actual review so don't expect any comments on longevity or anything similar.

Most people describe this as woody, spicy and leathery and that pretty much covers it, that's exactly what you get with Duro (perhaps I'd add a little smoke on top of it). The opening felt a little harsh, I also sense some green (patchouli maybe?) and to my nose the leather is a little medicinal. It does reminds my of Gucci Guilty Absolute (I have to do a side by side to see if they are actually similar but it did reminded me of it), I also found some similarities to Black Afgano, not that they are actually that similar but there's something familiar about it (again, I need to do a side by side).

As mentioned I won't discuss longevity but I can say that it's not a projection monster, based on 1 spray on the wrist I don't feel this as strong and offensive as other frags, this one remains closer, a smaller scent bubble.

Woody-spicy patchouli top, smells like oud + sandalwood w/ animalic tones in the drydown. Oud Wood style of scent, but skankier imo.

A fail from Nasomatto, opens with a blast of chemical dense wood to become just a normal perfume base in two hours, add average performance.
