Whether personally or as a memory
Blackcurrant - and how! Including green. I am greeted by the ‘Enchanted Forest’. The rather prickly fruit with its pungent shrub work is elegantly complemented not only by dark-toned fruits but also by a softly ambery, caramel-vanilla touch. Sweet-sensual jasmine slowly rises up. This is kneeling-worthy - best in front of a lady, as the scent suits them a bit better.
As with other Nimerès, the pyramidical variety can be misleading. The fragrance has a clear line, and that line is blackcurrant. Such a thing can easily tip from "characterful" to "biting." But here, the balance is perfect. If, for example, you find Sì or Sì Intense (I only know the latter) too overpowering, try today’s candidate. No one in your circle will surely have this one.
From midday onwards, the berry is gradually replaced by a lasting citrus fruit, presumably from the neroli corner. This works, as neroli, as I learned from testing Officina delle Essenze’s ‘Puro Neroli,’ can sometimes have brutal longevity. This process of substitution happens so stealthily that it is already in progress by the time I finally notice it. On the second test day, I note the beginning accordingly by mid-morning. The still-involved, prickly green does its part to maintain the illusion. In the second half, the blackcurrant remains, so to speak, in the form of a homage. After about seven hours, the fruit in the stricter sense is then done. It has - the next big plus - never mutated into a laboratory general fruit.
A mixture of wood and spice (I involuntarily think of a caraway nuance!) literally takes on a supporting role and sustains the “fruit in the broader sense” (i.e., neroli cream) for an additional hour or two. The overall appearance makes me suspect a notable contribution from synthetic wood, yet I do not feel overwhelmed by anything synthetic. And even after ten hours, one can still sense the leaf green of blackcurrant if desired. That the corresponding fruit could not keep up in full length is forgivable.
Conclusion: There are many creamy-floral-fruity scents. ‘A Scent of a Sweet Kiss’ stands out because no overpowering musk ultimately flattens all the unevenness. The distinctive lady blackcurrant remains the protagonist throughout - whether personally or as a memory. Strong.
I thank Can777 for the sample.
