The Shy One
Yes, that's what you can call him, the Shy One.
He has everything my patchouli heart desires. But he is sooo shy.
I work with him because he actually needs a bit more self-confidence.
Come on, come out of your shell. A little bling bling and hair slicked back. Wouwwww, see, that’s better.
No, seriously. Múnegu is a wonderful, warm - earthy patchouli scent. Unfortunately, it doesn't get the recognition it deserves here.
Considering that patchouli was once a healing herb and is still used as such today, one can actually be happy if one likes a patchouli scent.
Well, it was mainly used as an insect repellent. That makes perfect sense to me when I think of patchouli scents that smell sharp and cold.
The smell of patchouli was also a sign that, for example, goods that were to be shipped to another country were sprayed with it. If a carpet or a coat didn’t smell of patchouli, it wasn’t “real” or came from somewhere else.
Now, patchouli is not just an insect repellent or healing herb. Oh no, it also has magical properties. It is said to awaken love, desire, beauty, fertility, and passion. In magical or witch circles, patchouli oil is used for fertility magic. Although fertility is a very broad term for me. It doesn’t always have to be about sexual fertility. One can also use fertility, meaning growth, for success or courage or whatever one might be lacking.
Fine, but Múnegu has not only patchouli; it is simply beautiful with its enchanting liaison of woods and earth, warm amber, and spices AND strong flowers like ylang-ylang and geranium.
Cumin, which always has the property of making all scents a bit sweaty and animalistic, is completely overshadowed here. The fruity-citrusy start of the fragrance brings a smile to your face because you just didn’t expect it. Delicate veils of incense and steaming tobacco smoke give the scent a slightly masculine touch, but that’s fine too!
For me, Múnegu is a shy, lovely patchouli scent that could definitely be a bit louder. Because for the price, Sylvain Cara - who usually breathes something extraordinary into his fragrances - could have given it more power.
Otherwise, well done!
