The tipsy spa fragrance
What a dream pyramid for any lover of green notes or tea fragrances! It reads like a wellness vacation, practically nothing can go wrong. Expectations at skyscraper level. Can you guess what's coming?
Still in observation mode as to when Aloeae will finally be available in Germany, I received this very fragrance in the post today (many thanks to Olivia1985 at this point) and of course had to test it immediately.
Oops, what kind of start is that? Why do I smell pear fruit (or grappa, somewhere in between)? The euphoria begins to crumble. The good news: after 10 minutes the schnapps is finished and we get closer to the eponymous thing, it turns bright green, I can recognize soft mint delicately shining through. Do you know this Aloe Vera Aftersun Lotion from Garnier? That's exactly the scent, minimally sweet, creeping further and further forward. I almost blindly suspected cucumber or lotus or something similar watery-green, but it's not there - maybe the bamboo grew too close to the water? Tea? Cardamom? Wood? mhhh nope, not really. Too bad, I would have liked it.
You want associations? I'm reminded a little of Clean's H2Eau Collection or Bambou (but it's downright loud compared to Aloeae). If it had more tea, I could attest to a more distant relationship to "Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert | Bvlgari", H/S are quite comparable.
Aloeae is more like singing bowl music in the wellness area, humming softly, quite close to the skin but beautifully relaxing. But it's been humming away for >2 hours now, I'm used to worse from this type of fragrance. If I were to be spiteful now, I would say that blind-tested, you could also assume that you have a Lizzy Arden or Üffe Rocher fragrance with a slightly better runtime on your skin. I'll leave it at that for now ;) Personally, I'm a little offended by these minimal sweetish side notes and predict a 70:30 distribution in favor of the ladies.
It's a shame that most people will probably only be able to test it in cooler fall temperatures, I think it's a good summer fragrance that can withstand or needs warm and humid conditions.
There will be an update/post about the bottle at a later date...
